Hello MTC,

Potential Mav owner here. Everything was positive until I learned that the climate controls on, I think, the 2025 and 2026 are part of the touch screen.

Then I started thinking about how I use my current GM truck a 2008. The CC are down low on the dash and still require me to look down to adjust, when I do. Honestly I generally set it on auto and a temp and don't mess with it that much, so I think it comes down to reliability of the screen and ease of use.

Originally I thought the no-shifter was going to be an issue, but it seems people get pretty used to that though.

So I guess how reliable have the touch screens been? Are they easily replaceable? Am I worrying to much about this and will just set it and forget it?

Thanks!

When you view pictures of them - they are at least set "button" locations and actions - like real buttons.
With a ridge underneath to rest hand/finger on.

Some bring up a slider when pressed to adjust - or just press the button several times to cycle thru.
There is a post with video showing true interaction - because it was a huge point of consternation initially. And still is for many.

Compared to actual middle of the screen used for other things - going into Climate Control section of settings, finding what you want, and setting it - seen that on other systems and that appears to be a big distraction potential.

OP, would you consider a 2022-2024 Mav? Those still have a physical climate control panel on the dash.

Hadn't mentioned that I am looking at the hybrid with AWD option, unfortunately that is not available until 2025 I believe. Other than that I think the 2024 would be a good choice.

So now I need to wrestle with buttons or power train setup, oof.

You are correct on that AWD+Hybrid combo. That started in 2025.

If you really use the "auto" setting for HVAC, I'm not sure the touchscreen is an issue. There's no reason to think the Maverick's touchscreen is any less reliable than any other Ford touchscreen. In both pre- and post-MY25 trucks, you have to use the touchscreen for audio as well as other functions.

I have physical controls in my MY23, but IMHO the "auto" setting on the HVAC works fine. I haven't touched the temp setting in my truck in at least a month.
