Hi everyone!

I just got my 2023 Ford Maverick hybrid end of September. I tend to keep my vehicles for a very long time and living in Michigan the winters can be rough on vehicles. I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on getting underbody rust proofing on my Maverick. I know there's different kinds you can get but I guess just trying to have some general discussion and see what people's thoughts are..thanks!

When I bought mine in June the dealer offered Waxoyl undercoating. I had them do it and they did a surprisingly good job. Took off all the plastic panels and got into all the crevices.
It’s not the old rubber style but a wax based material. I used work at a Land Rover shop and those guys love that stuff. Ford actually endorses the use of the product. This product works best on a new vehicle. Product will have to be reapplied in around 5 years

prior to my maverick I was a fluid flim guy and would douse my Toyotas in it. That’s a twice a year product for me

blaster, Fluid film, wool wax, Nh Hydraulics any type of oily coating is recommended. This is what can happen if you go rubberized.

I to keep my vehicles a long time,my ram is 14 years old, never had it under coated and it's held up well for a Michigan truck it's whole life.hoping my maverick does just as well since there should have been some advancements in corrosion prevention in the last 14 years.time will tell!

I am a firm believer of Krown. I'm also in Mi, my previous vehicle was a 2006 Pontiac Torrent. Sold it to my daughter, had 150K, no rust! They advise having it re-sprayed every year (approx $125) but I only did it every other year (and those years I re-sprayed the doors with the same rattle can product myself). Check them out... https://www.krown.com/en/

I got Diamond Kote both for paint and underbody rust protection. Part of my package has that electronic rust repeller thingy too. My four year old Buick Encore has that electronic thingy too and no rust so far. I'm Southern Ontario so similar climate to you.

I live in west Michigan, I received my 2023 XLT FX4 on Dec. 30 2022 and by Jan 5th I had both undercoating and rustproofing done. The amount of salt used here makes it a no brained for me.

I’m a do-it-yourselfer so I love using Fluid Film/Woolwax and heavier oils like gear oil (but oil is messy, stinks, and is flammable). Been using Fluid Film/Woolwax for the last 8 years now on other vehicles with great success. There are several products mentioned here, and I am of the belief that something is better than nothing. The exception is rubberized undercoating! I concur that will make things WORSE, as I have seen it first-hand.

The first thing I did was spray on some clear coat paint over the pinch welds and areas underneath that had very little paint (discussed and shown in other threads). Now I'm spraying Fluid Film in the doors and Woolwax underneath. I'm too cheap to pay someone else to do it.

Black hardwax Waxoyl if properly applied is the best IMHO. We've had it done on a number of vehicles over the years and they stayed rust free. We had our 23 XLT done last month. All the under body panels and wheel well liners must be removed to do a good job and a different waxoyl product is sprayed inside the doors, tailgate, rocker panels etc. After it is professionally done you can touch it up yourself where it needs another recoat after 5 years or so. It's less expensive in the long run then other products that must be redone every year or so,
