Sadly and unavoidably hit part of an exploded tractor trailer tire damaging the front bumper valance of my Maverick. Moved over as far as I could out of the lane but still struck my passanger side front. Would have been more damage if i struck it straight on. I put a claim in with insurance and taking it to a local body shop to have it appraised for repair costs. Just sucks.

I'm sorry Raymond about your Maverick. It's frustrating dealing with unexpected damage. Hopefully, the repair process goes smoothly and you’ll have your Maverick looking good as new soon!

The scuff on the painted part actually looks kind of cool. Adds character and matches well. There are posts of adding tow hooks where someone DIY removed the front facia. Could be a DIY replacement if there isn't damage to the structure behind it.

It's a total write-off. I'll give you $10 to take it off your hands (the Mav that is).

I saw a dump truck blow a tire on the freeway once. Huge chunk of tire went about 30 feet in the air and landed right in front of a Jeep doing about 70. Unavoidable. I don't think the Jeep was still running as he pulled onto the right shoulder.

I could see trashed bits of Jeep hanging down. Not good.

I hope yours isn't too bad.

I was backed into and they scuffed the same 2 parts you have to replace. The autobody cost was $2200. I took the check because it's not that noticeable.
As long as you have no other damaged parts or sensors should be about the same

Those scuffs may come off, I don't see any broken paint there -- from the pictures. The lower valance needs to be replaced but isn't incredibly difficult and isn't that expensive. If you want to get an idea, look up one of the videos on installing Diode Dynamics foglights, it would be the same process to remove the front bumper cover. Then that lower piece is help on with a bunch of clips that are little but of a pain to do, but definitely do-able. I did mine because the dealer started drilling for a license plate bracket when they weren't supposed to, so they bought me a new piece and I opted to install it myself at the same time as foglights.

Similar experience occurred to a friend. His truck underwent damage to the headlight, grill, paint and radiator. Left us on the shoulder. His dash cam IDed the company owning the culprit and he’s still wrangling with their insurance for reimbursement.

Update got my Maverick back from the body shop today after 15 days in the shop. After $2708.47 to repair the damage from hitting an exploded truck tire on the highway, my Maverick looks brand new.

Looks good. 👍

Road alligators suck. 🐊
We saw a tremendous amount of tire parts on and along the shoulder of I-40 coming back from the Grand Canyon NP during the 4th of July holiday.

Looks great and that honestly seems like a pretty fair price.

I hit a chunk of ice build up in a similar fashion on 90 just west of Cleveland in a construction zone. Following a semi in traffic and a good 2 foot chunk falls out skidding on the road in front of me with no where to go.

Worst part is it was a 2013 Nissan Altima that was getting bought back as a lemon. They wanted $4,100 off my payback to replace the fascia and radiator that was damaged "but not leaking".

I bought a fascia myself for $225, had the local body shop paint it for $375, and then I checked the radiator for any holes (none).

Took it back after I fixed the fascia and they never questioned the radiator!

A few years ago I was messing around with my buddy in the parking lot of his restaurant and I ended up hitting a light pole with my Forester (yep....)

A front fascia, same body shop paint job, and a new front bumper and I was out the door for around $1100.

For a body shop to do all the work and order the parts plus inflation from COVID and that sounds about right.

Honestly, looking at it, if the insurance company gave me $2700 I'd probably just pop the dent out, wash it and call it good lol.

I don't think there is a vehicle in Montana that is without front end damage. Rock chips, bugs the size of pterodactyls, asphalt spray, animal bones... you name it, it's on the road up here. So I'd wear it and ignore it. Plus, I have a Carbon Grey Maverick, so if that rubber didn't come off it wouldn't be as bad as your lighter paints.

Probably one of the few things I could say that about too. Like, if I had a giant dent in the quarter panel... nah, that is getting fixed. But this plastic bumper and $2700 in my pocket? Screw it 🤣

Especially having browsed lower bumpers (black plastic portion) and seen them from $3-400.
