turning off the truck...

I was driving and pulled into a parking spot and turned the truck off without putting into park first....seems when you do this , it puts it into park automatically. Is this an ok practice....or should it be put into park before turning off?

It's an electronically shifted trans so I'm sure all the sensor reading from around the car add up to "put trans in park" when you turn the key to off. BUT I wouldn't want to develop the habit of doing so.

I wouldn't make a practice of doing that, but to each his own. Here is how it works from the owners manual.

I’ve done this to various Toyota’s for the last 16 years. No problems yet.
