I wonder how many of those knock down hoists are still available.
Back in the 80’s I used to go to a place called “Rent Right” at least once a year. Prices were very reasonable, hell they had to be cause I was a po boy😉
No hassles with storage but if I were in a situation were I needed it quite often I probably would buy one. They take up very little space after disassembly.

I think Im going to go this way. More money but no drilling etc. I need to get a hitch. Not really a priority but would be nice to have. Before I jump, I have to see what the A/C doc says for the house.
90 inside folks. Still better off than Helene's victims.

THANK YOU. good points from the little I know.

OK now I get it - you currently don't have a hitch receiver so that's why you looked at the bed mount.

A bed mount on a Mav would be a hard no for me. Without a hitch receiver you could spend bigger bucks and get a 1/1.5/2K lb gantry crane - assuming storage of the gantry crane when not in use isn't a problem. And a 2K lb gantry crane (~$850 @ HF) is the opposite of portable.

If/when you have a hitch receiver, can also go the mega big bucks (~$2000) route like I did for my nominal 1/2 ton PU - Truck Receiver Hitch Kit - SpitzLift Portable Crane . I'm old and always looking for labor-saving devices I can handle on my own that fit in a 5.5 ft bed, 700 lb max. capacity, ~85 lb overall weight (alum./steel), "probably" could fit (broken down - takes ~5 min. to assemble/disassemble) diagonally in a Mav bed (you'd need to check). Downside obviously is (a) cost and (b) +/- 4 wks from order to delivery.

I've used it a few times for moving my ~350 lb portable genset around/to relatives, nephew with A/C business has used it a few times for moving AC condenser units to homes.
