The only one that will keep life mpg is the main screen with the mileage gauge on it. Don;t reset it and it will be fine for the life. Trip 1 and 2 is just that single trip odometers.
I read more than one place on here that figure is really a rolling average of the last ______ , (fill in the blank) 120 hours, 2500 miles, 5000 miles.? No one seemed to know for sure, but it did not match their hand calculated numbers.

They probably figure if driver never reset it then it's not being used, so doesn't matter.
Geez look what happens when company announced that their newest small solid state battery assembly device is ready for installation in automakers assembly plant in two days while we are debating trip meters functioning! DANG!!!

That is on the default main screen as long as you don't reset it. I reset mine when I bought it and haven't reset it since. It is the screen that shows the instantaneous mileage.
I've never reset the "main" screen, and use trips 1 & 2 for trips. However, I'm a bit hesitant to believe that the mpg display is actually lifetime, rather than some shorter value. When I tow my boat, my "lifetime" mpg goes down rather rapidly, which doesn't make sense when it's only 500 miles out of 20K. Then, when I take a highway-only trip, it shoots back up. Maybe someone who has logged and recorded every gallon can verify if it's actually lifetime, or just the last 2-5K.

I'd have to agree with that.

AI reports the mpg is a rolling average over the prior 2,500 miles but doesn't indicate where it got that figure. So it's a maybe true or maybe not.

I can confirm that in a 2025 EcoBoost Tremor, the trip odometer does break at 10,000 mi :-( I have never reset Trip 2 in the hopes that it would give me some sort of lifetime MPG. I bought the truck when it had 16 mi on it but somebody must have reset it before me, maybe at the dealership. I think it's just that it is unable to display six digits and the decimal. Maybe they need to make it drop the decimal to be able to show five digits. I'm betting this can be fixed with a software update. Because 10,093 mi seems about right. I wonder if I should write a separate post about my 10,000 mi review? :)

thanks for the update...even if it is what i didnt want to hear.

we can tell from the MarvilusRicki post on Thursday that they have the technology to add the extra digit ...even if the Marvilus pic is Canadian Miles (everyone always corrects me on that). Canada gets all the good stuff.

I CONFIRMED (via Algebra) that the 2022-2024 trucks hold the most recent 5000 miles of MPG data.

That's it. About 10 tankfuls for the average driver.

The memory is FIFO. First in. First Out.
Oldest data is overwritten. No notice. No ding. No fanfare. It just does.

well thats a bummer to hear. i wasn't planning on resetting my Trip2 either. i havent even reset my Trip1 yet. i have 4000 miles. on my 2025. i hope the 2025 doesnt also flip to 0 at 10k. if anyone knows, please let everyone know.
follow-up on Trip 1my Miles did flip to zero at 10,000. my mi(electric), MPG and Time did not flip to zero. i am guessing my mi(electric) will flip to zero when that box gets to 10,000, but i dont know. since i get 50% miles in electric...i estimate March 2027 will get me 20k miles and 10k mi(electric).
pics of the flip attached.
