I ordered my Maverick back in October. Took delivery on April 2nd. Really enjoyed it for 2-3 days.

I was on the interstate for the first time and as I accelerated from 60 to 65 MPH I noticed the speed started to drop despite my foot still being on the accelerator. This happened twice and then I got the below error message. I pulled off at the next exit and when the light turned green, the car wouldn't go into gear. I tried turning the truck off and back on, the car wouldn't move. I had to push the truck to a gas station and call Ford roadside assistance. After 5 hours, it was towed to the local dealership.

I spoke with the service center today and they told me they are going to be replacing the entire transmission. They said that they didn't want to bother taking the transmission apart because even if they identified the issue, they probably wouldn't be able to get a replacement part.

They said it will be a minimum of 3 weeks before they get the new transmission in. Needless to say, I'm pretty disappointed. I was still on my first tank of gas!

Man, that's a bummer, but I came to realize many years ago that no matter what the product might be, there is going to be a small percentage of failures, some early, some late. Hopefully your insurance will provide you with a rental and thankfully this dealer wants to take no chances and get it done right. Just hang in there and it will be worth it when fixed.

The transmission is being replaced as an assembly instead of being disassembled and repaired because it is within 12 months/12,000 miles. Even if it is something simple, on a unit that new Ford wants the unit back to inspect for issues.

Could be as simple as a gear position sensor. No telling without knowing the code.

I suppose it is a good thing my Dealer puts a "lifetime powertrain warranty" on their new vehicle purchases.

I'm going to examine the fine print in great detail to find out what loopholes they have to deny repair.

I suspect I'll be using it at some point, especially after seeing the teardown video of these transmissions.

Not that fine of print - If for any reason each and every maintenance item is not completed and verified according to the owners manual the "Lifetime Warranty" is null and void . Ive seen some that require you to take it back to the selling dealer for a "inspection" there are many loopholes in this common scam.
