Why does everyone say lost money on the trade? I drive a 24 for 18 months for about 3k. I paid almost 27k for the 24. So $400 per month to drive the 24. I don’t think that’s bad. Then paid about 5k more for the 25 AWD luxury package than I did for the 24. Not a bad deal.
Yeah...but Joe is just showing the numbers...and the numbers don't lie. Some folks might say "ouch" to 13 grand...others might say...sheee, I just spent 13k on a "second" Specialized E-Bike yesterday...no biggie. :like: :like: :like:

Yeah I needed AWD capabilities. FWD would bit be able to climb my gravel roads if I had so much as groceries in the bed. Empty I’d make it but only if I went the long way around.
My short way is very steep and a ton of fun.

10-4 on the heated seats, steering wheel and mirrors.

I start the truck with my key fob from inside my house, It starts instantly, not like the app.

Yeah I’m Lariat spoiled now.

Did you know, ‘Aging is the aggressive pursuit of comfort’
Exposure to uncomfortable conditions strengthens the body.
FWD can go a lot farther than you think if you're comfortable.....not saying it is preferred though.

MY wife can't get her Odyssey up to our mountain property but I have no issue getting it up there.

I put Faulkin Rubitreks on my 2004 Escape that’s now only FWD. It can climb just as well as the neighbors Rav 4 that’s AWD. Like hers I cannot stop and restart the climb once on the steep part. When things get dry and loose not a single FWD vehicle up here can do the steep section I think because they all have all season tires. My Rubitreks grab well.

I was mid climb once in super dry loose conditions In my FWD Escape and my BullAdore hopped over the back seat to look out the rear window.
I lifted my foot just a tad off the throttle. I had to back down and restart the climb.

Never regreted moving to a vehicle that just felt better all the way around for us at that time. Looks like Johnny did the same!
I agree, I just find it amusing how most folks will "justify" such a move by saying the vehicle will save them money on gas. Unless you're driving 20k miles a year or more, the acquisition costs and depreciation will hurt more than the fuel cost difference had they kept the older car.

As long as all your other needs are met, sure. Like, I could go out right now and afford the Maverick of my dreams (XLT Lux hybrid AWD 4k tow) with an MSRP of $39,680, which will be close to $48,000 after taxes/fees/interest.

But I am fortunate enough that I can ride a bicycle to work and my car literally stays parked 6 days out of the week. So I'm playing the long game and would rather buy a used '25 Maverick hybrid AWD with 60-90k miles for hopefully around $20k in a couple years.

You paid $32,900 for the 25 and received $24,000 for the 24 (not bad if you paid $27,000). I make that $8,900 for the upgrade. Sounds like you paid cash for the 24 and did not finance it, otherwise your $400 per month would be a lot higher.
