Added an auto-dimming Hyundai mirror with Homelink & compass.

Mirror installed in just 10 minutes!

But it took ten DAYS (and another purchase) to get Homelink working with my old garage door. I needed an adapter box to bridge between the newer wireless technology in the Homelink and the older tech in the garage door opener.

Collateral benefit:
Marginally increased the Mav’s percentage of American-made content by swapping an American-made Hyundai part for an Italian-made OEM part :)

Was that mirror a plug and play, or does the homelick, have a battery in the mirror?
Was to do something for my new 2025 Maverick lariat, kind of bummed that Ford didn’t include that.
My last 4 Fords have had it.

The mirror isn't plug-n-play, it's a Hyundai part terminated with an electrical plug to suit a Hyundai wiring harness.

I bought a plug-n-play "kit" from an eBay seller ("ytdbej") who supplies the mirror with a harness he custom-makes to adapt it to the Ford wiring. The custom harness "Tees" into the existing Ford wiring making the kit truly plug-n-play.
(I have no relationship to the seller other than that of a satisfied customer)

PS: Calibration of the compass required driving the Mav in three consecutive circles. No problem, at the end of my cul-de-sac is a perfect spot for that!

After witnessing the calibration procedure my neighbor became convinced that I am completely insane. I briefly considered rolling down the window to tell him what I was doing but remembered:
"it's better to remain silent and be considered a fool than speak and remove all doubt."

Thanks for the info, not sure I want to do that to my brand new vehicle, even though a number of Maverick owners have.
