What kind of tonneau cover would someone recommend?

I have a woodshop, so having a cover that I can completely remove maybe necessary if I need plenty of plywood? I do a lot of DIY at my house too.

I want a cover that is hard top, so when we travel I can keep everything locked and safe too.

Thanks in advance :)

I know most trifolds, like the ones I have from Rough Country, are quick and easy to remove. You do have to install rails on the sides of the bed, but the cover attaches to the rails at the bulkhead side with two bolts designed to be tightened or undone by hand.

Rails staying is fine, but a few bolts and the assembly comes off and set aside is definitely what I am looking for.

Then indeed, a cover like the one I have will be perfect. That was my main concern when purchasing a cover as well.

Look at this installation video at 3:38 those two bolts are all you need to remove the cover form the rails.

You are awesome! That is exactly what I needed to know, and the vid attached makes it simpler than I thought.
Thanks a lot!

Just a thought. with the hard trifold covers that fold up against the back glass. I can reach the knob that tightens everything while outside the truck bed. For the type does doesnt fold all the way up, is that doable or do you have to get in the bed to reach it?

I just purchased a Gator SFX soft trifold a week ago. Unfortunately, I am exchanging for another cover. Air would form a "bubble" at the front of the bed at highway speeds, and it leaked considerably even after doing some extra sealing along the front per RealTruck video. After rain, water would pool considerably in one area on the top of the cover. That said it went on and off easy with no side rails to install (maybe why there were issues?). Very disappointed. Maybe I just got a bad one but it seemed well made, and others on this forum spoke well of it. Going to try a TruXedo rollup next. Trying to get a decent cover in the low $300 range. I suggest going for a more expensive trifold to fit your needs.

After having the Ford soft trifold on my ‘22 which was so hard to latch and the work required to remove it I bought the ExTang ALX which I love. I open it all the time and remove the whole cover when I do a thorough wash job.

I bought mine from eBay. I did it myself and I absolutely love it. Comes with built in LEDs and weather strips. Seller was awesome and was very quick on delivery.

I have had the Gator SFX on for over a year. Sure you get a little water in and it flaps a little in the wind but its a soft cover and 99% of them do the same. I find it a great simple cover that I can take off in under a minute and put on in about the same amount of time!

+1 for the Sentry CT, aluminum slats under the fabric are interlocking so there are no gaps and the tail gate needs to be lowered in order to unlatch from the inside for security. It also rolls pretty compact and secures in the rolled up position with straps so you may not need to remove it all that much.

Really wanted to like it but wind really seemed to be stretching the cover material. When I sent the picture of pooling water mfgr said it was defective. Didn't really want to take a chance on another one.
