Michelin Defender Tires?

New 2026 Maverick hybrid. service guy at dealership said I should plan on going thru a lot of tires .... I have no experience with continental tires but I used Michelin Defenders on my last 2 F150's and loved them... couldnt wear them out ... Anybody using them on their Maverick ??? thoughts on tires ??

No, I think the compound on the outside is softer than the stuff below. I'm sure the fuel gets well mixed and it's all the same in the tank.

I don't know why he would suggest that the Maverick goes through tires faster than any other vehicle. My best guess is that he's conflating mild hybrids with full EVs. And if that's the case...I wouldn't listen to anything else he has to tell you.

The Defender 2 is a fantastic tire for anyone primarily interested in on-road comfort and quiet and is absolutely a top pick for Maverick owners who count themselves among that number.

Defender 2’s are being upgraded to Defender 3
I tried for the 2’s but they/them could only find three.

Most 2’d left are getting a little out of date,
I don’t want two year old new tires.

That's one reason they normally rename tires every few years.

Same as the BFG’s KO2’s for years, now they’ve moved on up to the KO3’s.

Nope and you won’t either, don’t even bother to look.
The instant they announce that they won’t be able to sell the 2’s anywhere.

I was told this by Ford, My service writer called what ever supplier they use and asked why they could only order three tires. Evidently she knew who to call.

That gets out it would screw Michelins distributors.
But not Ford they likely have a buy back clause.
Michelin won’t give them any inconveniences.
Way WAY too big of a customer Ford Is.

Fair enough. Let's give it 6 months, and if no announcement is made, we'll chalk his response up to just another lie told by a dealership employee,,,,,

Just for kicks, what size are you looking for? Next time I'm at my dealer, I'll ask if they could get me a set.

My understanding is that the 3s won't be here for a couple years. I think I'm going with the Cross Climate when the time comes.
