It’s all good. I knew I would get responses like that.
I was hoping to learn something about TPMS longevity etc instead of complaints that you spent $30 too much. Folks have paid more;)

Anyway, how long did the tpms last before it pooped out? I think the new 2025 tpms use a different frequency - but I’m assuming you have a pre ‘25?

I don't think it's the batteries I think it's the screwy computer.
The top photo 18,410 isn't the first time it happened. It's the first time I had my phone in the car the first time it happened was actually one of the front tires.
The next time was 18,622.
Then it happened four times while we were on 4th of July holiday.
Everything always return to normal. It takes about 10 to 20 miles before the tire warning light goes out and the pressure numbers came back
I have never had a sensor changed.

You had 3 different tires go intermittent - all at speeds 65+

I’m guessing the computer is losing signal due to batteries? I don’t know if our tpms have a “low battery” warning - or will just act intermittently weird. Or like you said - the computer is screwy.

Anyway, when mine poop out they will stay that way & I’ll keep my tires inflated the old fashioned - eyes & a gauge:)

How would you explain them all coming back to normal after 15 to 20 miles while continually driving at 70 miles an hour. Remember I'm going a couple hundred miles in between stops?🤷‍♂️
I can walk out to my truck right now and I know all the sensors will be working.

I can damn near guarantee it's not the batteries.

It is a mystery to me too. Do our Mavericks have a “low battery” warning for the tpms? Guess I’ll ask the OP how he diagnosed his dead battery…

Retail is probably $125+ part & $200 labor….$325+ plus tax total.

If another one fails - use a tire gauge until the other 2 fail & use the $100 deductible on the $1200+ “repair”;)
What's wholesale, 25 bucks. Great profit on repair.

Be thankful they had the part. Went into a local Ford dealer on my Escape for the same with no extended Warranty. Had to go back, did not have the part. WTF... Did not have a damn sensor? Same... Well over a 100.00 for it as well. When the next one failed, went into my local tire dealer (where I buy my tires) and had the other 3 done for less than 100.00. Will never go back to that dealer. Ripoff central.

Ford sells wholesale to the independent dealers. These dealers are not Ford employees.

Should Ford sell parts consumer direct at wholesale prices? Should dealers pay their techs competitive hourly rates instead of the current pay system?

I’d vote yes & yes. Although Ford should not have to warranty the parts sold to individuals if damage occurs due to improper install. Or face any lawsuit based on an improper install. Individuals would need to warrant/insure their own work & buy their own tools etc.

At least sell oil & filters wholesale to us folks who do our own maintenance:)

Selling accessories wholesale consumer direct would impact the independent dealers greatly. Ford supports their independent dealers by placing MSRP well above wholesale.

I think that's the best advice. The dealership checked my tires and all was well. They said replacement $80. I didn't even realize that there is one for each tire. According to the manual, a vinyl patch on a tire can cause that to happen and I did have one patched not too long ago. So I'm going with that and keep checking the tires.

So my question would be what if 3 sensors fail at the same time? I’ve had about 2 months of intermittent warning about my tpms and it’s always the same 3 tires. I had my tire guy run a check and it isn’t showing as a fault on code reader and the tpms check isn’t saying faulty.

I just replaced all 4 of the sensors on my 2014 Sienna - $252 out the door (we have 10.7% sales tax!!!) @ Discount tire.
The stock ones had never been replaced but apparently 3 of them were belly up! Something I learned is if they die (at least on the Sienna) they can die silently! I was getting a low tire signal with good pressure so I had them checked. 3 dead and one giving a low indication. At least on the Mav I can look and see if all 4 are reporting, but on some vehicles you can drive around with a false sense of security!

totally agree. Op has a hybrid; we all know all battery problems would result in a deep sleep message of some kind.....
