My wife calls me this morning. The Truck pops up a warning that there is a TPMS sensor error. I hop on the app and get the system warning and see that the driver's rear tire is reading a pressure of "--" Wife checks the tire, all is good. She continues her journey and now it is showing tire pressure of "0" She got to her location, tire is still full, and she goes in to do her shopping. My guess is that I have a faulty TPMS Sensor.

My question is, when I click on the warning on the app, it says What should I do?
"Accessories such as video equipment, anti-theft alarm, Cell Phone charger, or power supply that were recently added to the vehicle may be the cause of this fault. The fault may go away with moving or removing the equipment." What frequency do the TPMS sensors transmit that a cell phone charger can interfere with the TPMS sensors? Now, my guess would be that if I am only having the issue with the one sensor, then it is probably not my cell phone jamming the reception, but has anyone actually had an issue with a phone charger affecting the TPMS system?

I think you have a TPMS failure for that one tire. Have it checked at some place like discount tire or even your Ford dealer. There is a good possibility it will be covered under warranty.

Sorry to hear that you are having issues with your TPMS set up.

You can visit your local Discount Tire location (America's Tire in Ca.,), and store personnel can diagnose your TPMS system and point you in the right direction. No charge for the inspection, btw.

Light went out and the pressure is updating again. I read another post that said they had an off again, on again relationship with one of their TPMS sensors. I will keep my eye on it.
I was just baffled how a phone charger could mess with the TPMS. Sounds crazy to me.

I wonder if that refers to a wireless phone charger? Since they pass energy by proximity, there must be the transmision of some kind of energy into the area around the charger. 🤔

Just a guess.

I’ve had a wireless charger the whole time I have had the truck. I would have thought it wouldn’t have happened after 1000 miles. But interesting thought.
wireless charging uses oscillating magnetic fields which makes power similar to a generator. The difference is, a wireless charger uses electricity and microchips to make the magnetic field oscillate , but a generator uses rotating magnets. I would think that if a wireless charger was going to interfere with the tpms, then so would the alternator, or hybrid motors.

Likely not, very short range of effect and induction based like those induction cook tops. Frequency would be all over the place. Simple is likely the fault. Tire sensor 'battery' bad RF tag style, or pickup unit bad, or dirty with a metal like dust.

Curious, is there a receiver for the TPMS at each tire, or just a central receiver that gets them all?
