tire indecision.... down to 2 options from BF Goodrich

I like the look of whitewall tires and a more aggressive tire. For my needs and preference the 245/65R17 on stock height visually seems to be the best fit. I have and love the KO2 on my 78 bronco but that's not my daily driver. The Maverick handles great with the stock AT tires, I drove to work early Saturday during the storm in the northeast and it handled really well.

I was concerned about noise on the KO2 on the maverick but I find the current stock tire noise noticeable, acceptable, but not noisy? if that makes sense? So i do not think either one will bother me noise wise.

I like the look of the new Trail Terrain tires but keep flipping back and forth on the KO2's, looking at different photos. I would think both will need mud flaps?

I will mainly use this daily driving, highway, light gravel, dirt, trails. I researched a lot of tires, friends love the coopers and Toyos. Any other whitewall maverick photos? I have checked out the tire thread which is really helpful.

I love the durability of the KO2s, i think its the thickest ply all terrain at 245/65R17. The trail terrain is very new so reviews are limited although there is a member here who has good experience in Colorado and I think is the main factor that keeps me flip flopping.

I guess to sum it up, will the All terrain KO2s be overkill with drawbacks on highway driving over the benefits of the trail terrain highway use?

We don't get much snow in the part of NY (long island) I live in, but rain.... plenty.

Have you considered Toyo AT3s in 245/65/17? They are lighter and better for daily driving. I am averaging 26mpg, minimal ride noice, and the ride quality is good.

I believe the trail terrain is designed to run quieter than the k02's, look at the reduced shoulders. I am leaning to the trail terrains when I get my 8/27 order.

Those BFG’s were on my options list, but I went with the Toyo AT3’s and don’t regret my decision. It’s a little noisier and stiffer riding than the factory Pirelli’s, but the snow traction using even close. If I lived in a fair weather climate I’d leave on the factory Pirelli’s.

Trail terrain installed for 3 month. Live in Portland Oregon. A lot of rain. Good traction. A few days of snow. Good traction. No real mpg diff. Slightly louder than stock but to be expected

Very happy. Aggressive enough for a mall crawler

Unless all you care about is looks, the benefits of a tire like Michelin Defender LTX MS far outweigh the deficiencies of wet and dry pavement driving of TA ko’s for 99% of drivers I see running them

to each his own. My last set of tires only came in RWL in the size I needed. I flipped the RWL in when installing. RWL take work to maintain otherwise you just end up with scuffed RGL (grey) soon enough.

I'm considering the exact two tires. I was VERY surprised that the KO2 performed MUCH better on the wet track tests than the Trail Terrain. I would've thought the opposite.

Seems like the Tire Rack testing says the KO2 is the better tire. Makes my decision easy, especially since I really love the RWL look.
