Really sure that is a normal tailgate with black vinyl wrap. Not too expensive part to wrap, if you want to go that route.

I think this is a just a weird effect of a filter added on the video, like darkening of highlights. Look at how that dark colour extends beyond the tailgate and fades as it passes below the tail light.

Still interesting as a concept though…. I want to run a tailgate pad, might do a. Wrap of some sort to protect the tailgate as the paint is allegedly not the best.
