I love my ‘23 tremor and will be needing new tires in about a year. What do you think about 225/75r17 all terrain tires? How would they perform compared to tremor stock tires? Would they fit without modifications? Thanks for your opinions

I personally wouldn't. I vaguely remember looking into that size and they seemed very heavy given their dimensions.

I'd stick to the 235/65/17 and then upsize to 245/65/17 when the stock tires wear out.
Or sell the stock tires and upsize to 245/65/17 if you feel the larger tire look is worth it to you.

235/70R17 is a better option.
You might need to cut the welding edge off to fit the /75's
225/75r17 will rub for sure, even with a 1.5-2" extra lift over the factory Tremor 1" lift

That's correct, 245/65R17 is the smartest size to choose from

this is true too. If you search 235/70/17 maverick here or youtube, you'll see a video.
I personally run that size on my hybrid because I got a great deal on that size.
They should be fairly similar to the tried tested and true 245/65/17 and performance should be about the same with little to no noticeable differences.

245/65/17 is probably going to be your best bet still because you'll find a better variety of tires, and likely better prices.

Got a friend of a friend offering me 235/70R16s on steelies, snows about a third worn. The meats will fit in the pie hole I assume, it's just the caliper clearance might be slim to none... thinking I might pick them up and test fit and if a finger gets under the pinch point, test drive them.

Maybe an inch taller is all I'd go in order to not have rubbing issues "offroad" (off pavement). That gives a half inch more ground clearance. I'd also go skinnier for better mpg and better traction (I don't drive on sand or mud where large contact patch might be beneficial; smaller contact patch has better traction on dry and rocky surfaces).

Keep in mind, the tire diameter changes depending on the Width (225) and the Aspect Ratio (75). Here's a screen shot of a simple spreadsheet I made to calculate different tire sizes.

Good Luck.
