This is odd... miles to empty dropped 145 miles while being serviced

Took my truck in for both recalls, oil change and test battery due to deep sleep mode.
When I dropped off truck miles to empty read 350, when I picked up today(there overnight) miles to empty now reads 205.. Why?

Idling and running the engine drops the mpg figure I know from warming up my vehicle. Never looked at miles to empty but it would of course go down also. Hard to believe the engine ran that much or used that much fuel. Seems like it would have had to use three or four gallons to lower your miles to empty that much. Do not know.
Odometer reading before and after if you know........

Idled? Or maybe a hard reset (like disconnected battery or something) causing it to give a new estimate after the dealer tested while at idle?

the battery theory seems plausible since you had them look into the battery. not sure if it resets after disconnect, but maybe.

They did pull battery and put back in

Mine was too after 2 tsb reprograms. It went back to normal after I put gas in.

The battery explanation sounds most likely. I recently had to disconnect and reconnect the battery in my Kubota tractor. It showed a code. Technician walked me through a reset over the phone . My hour meter now reads 5 18.1 instead of 518.1. Luckily, I have such an honest face that a buyer will believe me when I tell them that I have not messed with the meter??

same thing happened to me after I had my 'grabby brake' issue fixed. dealer only had the truck for about an hour.
