If this happened to me I would just think they are off duty. About every other house is my neighborhood is law enforcement and the other half are military members. 😅

I followed a lady around a couple turns at night once. Tried to signal her to pull over. She didn’t of course, so I got out at a red light to to go up to her car. I wanted to tell her the left rear tire had a large nail/something in it. She got out mace and started spraying it in my direction. Thankfully it only got on my coat. She got on the interstate and the tire blew, she went off the road into a ditch. Why in the bloody hell would I get out of my car in a busy intersection at a red light to do something bad? She could have cracked the window and said “can I help you?” Anyway, instead of helping her in the ditch I just kept on driving. I understand being afraid but we all need to chill and legally carry a gun.
Better to get sprayed with mace than sprayed with bullets for sure!!! Legal carry does not = legal use these days.

No disrespect to any Police Officers or family of police officers but if that happened to me I would not have been happy. I'm not okay with any law enforcement following me to my house.
One must remember that police officers are people too. I would see it as an opportunity to make a new friend.

There is no more calm these days...that's why I moved to S Georgia!! South Florida was a nightmare indeed.

Again- I don't want to be friends with a stranger who sees my car on the street and follows me home. There's etiquette to things people.

It is good you handled it positively. However that does not excuse how big of a violation of privacy that is. As I stated to a previous reply on here. You would never do that in plain clothes civilian to civilian following them to their house. And I bet you would not have acted that way had you noticed a car following you to your home. So it really is not an excuse to be allowed to do that because you wear a badge. Just my opinion. I live in a mid east state (Detroit) opinions are created by the societies we live in so mine may vary from many others on this site. However it is a valid opinion.
Valid opinion?

This is clearly not an "invasion of privacy:"
1. Any officer can engage any citizen in casual conversation without justification.
2. The officer did not ask for identification, registration or proof of insurance.
3. The officer did not conduct a pat down search for weapons.
4. The officer did not check the vehicle for weapons.

Luckily, I live in an area where our highly trained, well funded, courteous, respectful officers are appreciated by the vast majority of citizens.

Was hauling a.. in my Ram and then the radar detector went off as I was pulling into my driveway... did not pull the truck into my garage and did not have time to and have to close the gate as I knew something was wrong. Next thing I saw was a state trooper pulling up and walked up to me and asked for the usual...dl ,reg and ins. I told him I had none of them on me and he said he could just check it from the tag #. He asked why I was going so fast { 95 in a 55} and I said I was just trying to get rid of some old gas. I then told him about my mods and then he told me " I know" due to him hearing the blow off valve and then stated he had a Callenger SRT8...no ticket though..... So you never know.

Never did I once announce I do not appreciate officers when they're doing their job. Agree to disagree following anyone home is not appropriate. Different strokes for different folks.

Everyone is different. Everyone has different experiences on which they base their opinions. So all opinions are valid for those who hold them. Personally, I defer to "friendly" unless given a reason to think otherwise.

But the officer was doing private/personal business on company time. Bad form. I might have encouraged him to call me after his work shift was over but we're not talking now.
