Congrats. I think Ford offered a great pair of engines here. I could see myself enjoying either one for different reasons.

Unfortunately the truck I had coming was not exactly the way it was ordered. I mentioned in the OP. that the floor mats and mud flaps I had removed before getting a production date were not pulled from the build, and I could not remove them after it was scheduled. Since I had already purchased aftermarket mats and splash guards, I would have had to sell one set of each. Also, I am really happy to be getting the battery wired keypad that was pulled from the 24 models. I can get an aftermarket bug screen cheaper than Ford charges. Basically the same truck, with a lower price out the door.

I'm sure the dealer will not have any problem selling the other truck.

Love the color! My first order was for a Carbonized, but after a seeing Cactus Gray in person I had to get it. I like how it morphs according to the lighting. It's unique, that's for sure.

Envy your carport, BTW.

Well, some of you may have seen my stories I've posted about the ordering process. Like my mom used to say, things usually work out for the better...

In a nutshell, I'd tried to order in 22 but missed the window. Asked to be put on 23 order list, but apparently wasn't and I didn't remember to order online thinking I would get a call when I could. My bad! Started inquiring more. Finally a nearby (1.5 hours) dealer got an AWD XLT Area 51 in stock, but it disappeared before I could get my deposit to them the next morning. Was called back that they had a Tremor Lariat fully decked out with lux package, etc.. Too rich for my blood.

I finally got in a 24 order a day after the window opened. I made some changes (all before I was given a production date), signed & returned the new build sheets, and verified these were submitted to Ford with the dealer. One of the changes was to remove the floor mats and splash guards, and when I verified they were removed I ordered aftermarket ones. Well it turns out they weren't removed, and I only discovered this after I had a build date. Oops.

I posted here some about worrying about the splash guards postponing my order into the winter or even next spring. The general consensus was if I had the build date, I'd get the truck on schedule. It didn't turn out that way. The truck was in production since Oct. 18th, the modules popped the following week on the 25th... and early this morning the dreaded Almost Built email arrived. I'm guessing the splash guards were the stumbling block.

I'd been browsing the dealer's website and saw they had a 2023 in transit. No floor mats or splash guards that I didn't want. Same AWD XLT FX4 4K Cactus Gray I'd ordered. Close enough, can this be done? Hmmm. I bounced it off the dealer sales rep. as a shot in the dark. Eureka! She transferred my deposit to the 23, which is expected to arrive very soon! I will lose the bug screen and engine heater, but gain the 23 model's battery wired entry keypad that I really wanted. I can get an aftermarket bug screen, I hope I can get an aftermarket engine heater that'll work. Of course I'm also going to be paying a bit less for the 23 than the 24, which should help me cover the taxes. It's all good!

So, I'm hoping maybe in a week or so I'll be sitting in my shiny brand spankin' new Maverick. What a long, strange trip it's been already, and I haven't even driven the truck yet! Mom was right, as usual!

Kudos to the dealer for working with me on the old switcheroo!
Most Maverick owners I've run into has a story that comes with their truck, myself included.

Very similar to what I just did. I've got '24 Maverick on order with a mid November build date. Another local Ford dealer had a '23 XLT FX4 Lux Copilot 360 Cyber Orange stock order available, not only no ADM they were giving me X-plan pricing. It's nearly the same build as my '24 except the color which is HPR but I really wanted CO anyway. A bit cheaper, I'm getting the intergrate keypad, and I didn't want the DIBL that comes with the '24 XLT Lux package, the '23 has a SIBL, it really was a no brainer. I guess someone else will have a crack at my '24 when it comes in...or I should say the dealers '24.

Looks like my 2023 XLT bed won't have any bed liner installed. I guess the SIBL was only included on 23 models with the Lux package. I will have to try and locate an in state SIBL company next spring.

I ordered Oct21 hoping it would be built when I got back from Kuwait. Wasn't. Bought a '15 Civic. Rolled into a'23 model, no word from Ford until we got a phone call from dealer last day of March it had arrived. Traded in Civic. Got better gas mileage and more utility. :D

OF COURSE they forgot several options we wanted. Oh well, love our Mav anyway!

For '23 the XLT Lux didn't come with a bed liner sprayed-in or not. For '24 the XLT Lux comes with a DIBL. My '23 is getting a SIBL next week.

My virgin, break-in trip yesterday was up and over the Continental Divide, Monarch Pass 11,302' above sea level at peak. My mighty Maverick Pepe handled the trip well but I tried not to push him too much. No complaints whatsoever except a bit more cabin noise than I'm used to. That and all the new technology makes me feel like a geezer sitting in a spaceship. Gonna need some owner's manual time. The Pirellis look pretty iffy for the kinda winters we have but I have the Ranger for bad days and may hold off on new tires since I just spent a large wad. Trying to add some accessories, hope to get on the tonneau before the snow starts flying tomorrow. Good to finally have the truck home. (y)
