I know I take all reviews with a grain of salt, but they can give you a feel for a vehicle if you are on a search for the right vehicle.

It does seem more and more reviewers are bringing the Maverick forward as a viable option for those who have modest needs in the truck dept.

As this happens, more people become aware and then possibly accepting of the fact that maybe you don't need a big gas guzzling truck...Especially with the fuel prices trending up as they are currently...even more people my be turning to them once they find out about them.

Mavericks, both flavours, are way more fuel efficient, are more easily and comfortably driven in city traffic and so easy to park then any of the other trucks out there (Santa Cruz excepted of course).

I see more Mavericks every time as we go about our business, and I think it is a good thing!

Cheers,

Andy

Ford F-Series (F-150): Still the undisputed global leader in total sales, especially with the popularity of the F-150 PowerBoost hybrid.

Toyota Hilux: The "King of the Desert" remains the #1 selling pickup outside of North America (Africa, Middle East, and Australia) due to its legendary durability.

Chevrolet Silverado: Holding a firm second place globally, particularly the 1500 series which is a favorite for both towing and daily driving.

Toyota Tacoma: The fastest-selling mid-size truck this year, with the 2026 Hybrid models seeing massive demand and rising double-digit sales.

So far my hybrid 2025 Lariat has done all the homeowner style hauling asked of it. And with gas prices at record highs, averaging around 40 mpg is a real bonus. Love my little truck.
According to AI:

Current price: $3.84/gal (AAA national average, March 18, 2026)
  • The all-time high national average (regular gasoline) was:
    • $5.016 per gallon
  • Date:
    • June 14, 2022

This data is tracked by the AAA, which maintains the most widely cited national averages.

If you adjust for inflation:
  • The early 1980s (around 1981) had comparable or slightly higher real prices
  • But in nominal dollars (what you paid at the pump):
    • June 2022 is the record

I have been fortunate. Gas prices don’t affect me like they would a family with kids and two vehicles.
$5.00 a gallon in my Ecoboost would still be better than $4 a gallon in an F-150

I’ve had several, ‘Mini Trucks’ and three
F-150’ and one F350

My Maverick is the nicest of all my mini trucks by far and It’s the right truck for my needs.

One day some other manufacturer will step up with a Proper, ‘Mini Truck’ and I’d bet they’ll sell a shit ton of em’.

The competition will be good for us all but It will have to be one helluva truck to successfully compete with the Mav’s that’s for sure.

Agree, the Maverick is great for me. I have an F150 for when I need a full size truck, and financially it would make more sense to just drive it paying higher fuel costs, saving the purchase cost of the Maverick, but I really like the easy driving and parking of the Maverick. The cost of the Maverick is once vs. the frequent higher refueling costs of an F150. The Maverick really doesn't feel so small driving around since my previous daily driver was a Camry.

A National average varies widely among regions. Regular here is currently $399⁹ at most stations. I don't recall paying over $3.60 in 2022 or ever for regular where I live. I'm sure there were higher prices in other markets.
Anyway, that misses my point of how great the Maverick is at its designed job while being very economical.

Oops! $3.99⁹. Figured I'd best catch it first. 😆

No, AI pulls information from the internet. There can be errors, but it casts a wider net than most folks do when looking for information.
Making stuff up is not an error (known as AI hallucinations), it’s garbage that it generates based on all the dribble (total BS people post) that it picks up off the internet and regurgitates to the foolish people that use it. Those who work on AI know it’s trash and will tell you so.

I didn't complain about it 3-4 years ago and I won't now. Although those that did complain about that, about a certain struggle between entities since Feb 2022 and places we invested our money moving backwards, are awfully quiet now.

Same thing AI quoted. Not made up, just searched from the internet. Verify anything you find on the internet, not just what AI says.
