Yep. Except - it's really the only vehicle in its class. No other manufacturer has a small unit-body pickup truck in this market, much less with a hybrid variant that is targeted towards fuel economy.

We will see in the next years if the market responds. In the meanwhile, Ford will release an all-electric (and maybe smaller) pickup and Slate is coming to market with their barebones electric trucklet. For my use case, a full EV was not what I wanted but my wife might like such a thing for her daily commute - as long as it's as nice inside and to drive as her Golf which the Slate does not seem to fit the bill.

Interesting times indeed.

The Maverick was still a genius move by Ford, sure it's not as profitable as the 65K pickups, but how many thousands of customers did they take away from other brands with just this one vehicle? smaller profit is better than no profit & they make up for it with the big trucks. Sure the price is up 20% from introduction year, but the 50K-95K vehicles also increased 20%. I love mine as much as when I first got it.

Ford was Right. Cancel Ranger. Last year 2011. Customers don't want midsize or smaller pickup.
Ford was Right. Not a market for pickup smaller than F-150.
Ford was Right. No market for sedans in USA.

I'm thankful Ford is wrong every once in a while. Maverick is great vehicle. We enjoy it very much.

I agree with you they have made a lot of mistakes and most likely in the future as well. Don't shoot the messenger, just passing a video along one mentions truck of the year and others remarks on the Maverick.

I'm happy to read you are enjoying your Maverick. I enjoy mine as well. Just as much, if not more than new, because I have realized or experienced what it can do on a daily basis. It's truly a joy to drive.

My first new car was the Escort. I replaced it with another Escort. When they stopped making Escorts, I bought used and even a Dodge Neon. My last new car was a Honda Fit in its last model year. I've been chasing economy rides my entire-car-buying life and happily transitioned to the Maverick. It's the most economical ride with high utility that I can find. I have passed this approach on to at least one of my daughters who is driving her second Focus, although she had to buy them used. I miss the days of economy vehicles and apparently my kids do too.

Ford mistakes you say? "I'm old enough to remember" the Edsel.
Ford Maverick The cheapest truck in American is also the smartest 1781882484026-ja

here’s one for $125k. Not a bad deal. Once they got rid of the horse collar grill it was too late. They sold as bad as the Santa Cruz LOL. Who’d have thought the giant cars with the huge tail wings would be “all the rage” instead?
