DEARBORN, Mich., Jan. 11, 2022 – The all-new 2022 Ford Bronco has taken home the 2022 North American Utility of the Year award and the all-new 2022 Ford Maverick received the 2022 North American Truck of the Year award today.

This marks the second year in a row a Ford vehicle has earned recognition from North American Car, Utility and Truck of the Year™ jurors, following last year’s top honors for F-150 and Mustang Mach-E.

“We’re thrilled and honored to earn both Truck and Utility of the Year from the NACTOY jury for the Ford Maverick and Bronco, especially among such a strong field of competitors,” said Kumar Galhotra, president, Americas and International Markets Group. “But we’re also proud because these awards are well-deserved recognition for the tremendous amount of work, focus and energy our teams have invested in designing, engineering and building exciting vehicles for our customers. This also reflects the overwhelming reception we’ve had from our Maverick and Bronco customers alike.”

North American Car, Utility and Truck of the Year awards are bestowed by a broad and distinguished panel of 50 jurors, recognizing the most outstanding new vehicles of the year – those that define or redefine their segments with superlative attention to innovation, design, safety, handling, driver satisfaction and overall value.

As the flagship model of the Ford outdoor brand of 4x4-exclusive Built Wild vehicles, the 2022 Ford Bronco offers thrilling off-road experiences with heritage-inspired style, rugged engineering and smart off-road technology. The formula and product are hitting the mark with customers, with Bronco turning on dealer lots in just seven days on average.

Reinventing the modern compact pickup for truck customers who never knew they needed a truck, the all-new and affordable Ford Maverick is the first standard full-hybrid pickup in America and the most fuel-efficient truck on the market with an EPA-estimated rating of 42 mpg in the city*. Its compact size makes it easy to maneuver and park, there’s room for five adults and plenty of storage, with payload and towing capability to accommodate a huge range of needs. Maverick is turning on dealer lots in just four days on average.

Both Bronco and Maverick are designed to enable the adventures and needs of their owners, from scaling trails to helping a friend move a couch. These new vehicles are just what customers have asked for and that’s reaffirmed by the honors each has earned to date:

AWESOME! Ford definitely has a winner on its hands. Skyrocketing reviews, owner satisfaction, SUV/Truck capabilities, and a definite winner in the Hybrid configuration with MPG's being as good or better than most all compact cars are contributing factors to the success of the Mav in today's market. Hats off to the Ford designers, engineers, and workers who had a hand in each Mav on the road. Here's to many exciting miles in the future!

I love that a cyber orange Maverick was chosen to represent the truck. It's a bold, striking color. It's also a love it or hate it color. It's the second least popular color chosen on this forum, according to the forum order stats, behind only Rapid Red, which is exclusive to the first edition trim.

I find it interesting that the Maverick won over much more expensive and feature rich vehicles like the Santa Cruz and Rivian R1t. Any manufacturer can throw money at a vehicle and produce something many might want, but few can afford or willing to spend their hard earned money on. Santa Cruz is a typical brand offering and Rivian is trying to get ahead of the electrification craze. Ford, instead, chose to produce the Maverick, which the market needed and wanted, and did so at a cost, enough features to attract, and such a well design that is super appealing. Great job Ford. Other Domestic brands should catch on a little.

Cool, I already got the Bronco. Hopefully I get my Maverick this week. Then I’ll have both.

Cyber orange is definitely a love/hate thing. According to a poll created yesterday (234 responses as I post this), it's by far, the most disliked color by members of this forum with 42.3% of respondents indicating they would pass on the Maverick if CO was the only color available to them. Second place went to shadow black with 28.2%.

Voting is still open:

I voted for silver in your poll. It's too common of a car color and I've had too many silver cars that I never want another one again.

I would venture to guess that that is the reason it is getting all of the press and "Best of" awards. When you factor in features + value proposition, it's hard to compare. Are there sacrifices? Yes. Are the sacrifices acceptable given the price point and features? Apparently so given the accolades.

Fabulous truck in every regard.

Too bad it's being sold by some (not all) slick, slimy and sleazy dealers.

I find it so ironic the article made this statement "A compact pickup truck customers who never knew they needed a truck".

I always knew I wanted a truck, they just stopped making the one I really wanted....small and get's good gas mileage.

My order placed Oct 13, Hybrid XLT, Iconic silver, Co-pilot & Lux Package....It's going to be a long wait. May be March - April delivery...May be?
