I booked a test drive for a 24MY Hybrid XLT through the Costco Auto Program.

During and after the drive, the salesperson and I chatted about the current state of the market and what the future holds for Mavericks.

Here are a couple of things of note:
1. They were NOT convinced that a 2025 refresh is happening.
*The only new additions would be a set of new colors, but nothing that would alter the assembly lines.
2. Buying off the lot is challenging to get a deal. All the dealers in my area are putting at least $5k on markups to account for low inventory for Mav's. I did not see an itemized receipt so I don't know what they're marking up aside from doc fees and the usual 10% for title/registration.
3. The most cost-effective route to acquire a Maverick right now would be to build the car you want on the Ford website and send it to a dealer to order. They don't add any markups aside from the usual 10%.

I hope to get into a new car at the end of the month, but that may not happen even if I put an order in today.

Any tips/insight would be appreciated!

I got my 24' XLT a month ago for 750.00 under MSRP. If all your local and state dealers in California are charging over MSRP.

There's nothing special about the Maverick or any other new vehicle that makes any of them worth over MSRP! I would look out of state.

They are not very smart. The 2025s are already on public roads with almost no camouflage. The front end is polarizing and way more than a new color. And, no, they are not 2026s or anything other than a MY25 truck you will be able to buy in the next 6 months. Badged, undisguised prototypes do not drive around town years before they are for sale to the public. Pics are all over this forum.

You need to get out of Irvine. Do not pay over MSRP.

I don’t know what the 10% is referring to, but there are good reasons already to stay away from this dealer, even before this mathematical mumbo jumbo.

Find a dealer who knows what the hell they are talking about and that wants to sell a truck.

The best way to get a new Maverick is to build it on the website and send it to a dealership like Granger or the many others you will find referred to on here that do not mark it up one penny and sometimes offer discounts for hundreds or thousands of. Like my Tremor I bought in 2023 for under $30,000.

Guess that person doesn't know what he is talking about. 25s will be a refresh with updated exterior and interior. We have already seen what the exterior will look like and we know it's getting a bigger screen with sync 4. Also it seems there might be an AWD hybrid option.

Exactly. I've been on these forums long enough to have kept up with those photos and am confident that it's happening myself. Just the fact that they don't know about this was enough to ring alarm bells in my head.

I have the Master List saved from the guy who compiled the list of best dealers in each state, so I'd go to one of them first. This dealership was just the closest to where I work so I could get a quick test drive in and get some information. I got one of those things I guess. :p

I am about 70 miles south of you. My very very small local Ford dealer has 42 Mavs on their lot as of July 4th. However, especially for hybrids they are trying to get +$1000 ADM in an affluent area.

I would not shop during the 4th holiday. Spot a few you like at various dealers [online shopping] and see what is left.

The '24's on the lots will fall in price once the 25's hit the streets.

Shop online using the Ford website to build and locate. Then email the dealer's "Internet sales department" [a guy or gal sitting in a corner with a computer] and negotiate online. Always get them to itemize the charges and ask for an out the door price. Print the email out and take it if you plan to buy.

For my first Mav, a 2022 EB placeholder while I waited for my special order hybrid, I found what I wanted at Fritts Ford in Riverside, 75 miles away.

Good experience, better than at my local dealer where I ordered. Try dealers in less affluent areas then Tustin like the Inland Empire etc. and hot places.

I bought my 2024 Hybrid Maverick off the Dealer lot a month ago, MSRP plus tax and tags. They had three available; sales guy said they were starting to get them in

This.☝
I paid hundreds below MRSP + a $129 doc fee, OTD. Nothing more. I live in a tag-it-at-the-DMV state, so I am not including taxes or tag fees (~$800).

What's the 10% title/registration fee? That's ridiculously high given that all they do is sent someone with the paperwork to stand in line at the DMV, they check the VIN and the sales slip on the computer quickly and then issue the appropriate ownership and registration for a small fee. It might be worth $50 in most places, and certainly less than $200 in places where they charge a hybrid vehicle road usage fee (Alabama is probably the highest at $100 for example). Ford gives the dealer 4% when the vehicle is sold. You're being ripped off.

Tax and title. CA 8%+ sales tax. 10% a rule of thumb for estimating those costs.
