Tapping in to courtesy lighting (Doors open)

Hey all, I'm currently installing these side lights on my 22 Hybrid lariat lux.

The thing that's really making me struggle here is the courtesy light connection for when you open the doors. Has anyone tapped into this yet? I'm trying to find a place to connect that would turn the lights white when any of the doors open, but not when I just want to turn on the dome lights. Thanks in advance!

Possibly tapping the side marker lights ?

I just did this for the LED strip under the hood lip. Just checked on a Lariat, opening the door turns on the side markers

I just checked and my side markers are on when I unlock my car, auto start, and when my headlights are on so I don't think it would work in this scenario.

I already have the amber color that acts as a running light when my headlights are on.


To add to this, I'm curious if there is a wire that runs to the computer that activates the dome lights and side marker. Maybe I would be able to tap into this before it reaches the computer. I'm really not sure how to approach it because technically there would be four wires running to a specific location and I would have to tap into each one of them. The rest wasn't too hard but the courtesy lights are really confusing me.

Perfect, now would I be able to just tap into that one wire and it would work for all doors?

Yes, should be able.

Technically you could tap the door ajar switches if you wanted just one side, but then I wouldn't want to end up accidentally triggering the door ajar sensing on the driver's door that throws the transmission into Park.
