All I was looking for is a plausible explanation. I don’t deal well with lack of information.

Some knowitalls need to gather some more facts.

1) If you were to buy a new car in Texas on 2/1 and pay your taxes and then move to PA on 3/1, PA don’t give a damn about the 8.125% you paid to Texas, you gonna pay another 6% to PA. Look it up if you don’t believe me. If you wait to title in PA until 8/1, then they’re cool with it for some reason. I’ve seen it in writing and in person when I asked the title clerk in PA last week.

2) I’ve been told by the dealer that not only the name but the address on the DL must match delivery address for them to be considered to be in compliance. So much time has expired, my home situation has changed. So, yeah it’s a compliance problem for the dealer to ship it to another address. They have to meet their percentages for compliance.

3) Obviously my concerns for rust are for down the road. A misapplied bed liner surely is at a higher risk of lasting less time than one applied correctly the first time. You can’t tell me that they are equal in quality.

I would say based on all the things you have going on at the moment with the move, I would punt on the purchase. Not because I want me or someone else to buy the truck, but based on the things you mentioned that worry you, you will never enjoy the truck. Once you get totally moved and established, just place an order for an Eco boost 2022 or wait for 2023 order window to open.

2)I t.hink you should pass on the truck, you have gotten yourself into state (pun intended) where any little glitch with it will have you thinking that it is a lemon. So move on and let someone else enjoy it worry about it.

Well, it's been almost 7 months. Nothing but bad Karma since the truck was produced on 12/10. Looks like it was built on Dec 10th, went to body shop possibly for spray-in bedliner on Dec 17th, and was released from factory on Dec 20th but then went back to Body Company on the same day. Maybe on inspection they noticed a problem.

So, now, assuming that the bed liner was misapplied, I am probably looking at something which is not going to be done correctly and wind up with a rusty bed over time. That's about the only conclusion I can reach. I mean to me, in this scenario, the only correct way to fix this is to make the bed over again. Or scrap the car and do it over. You know that Ford is not going to do this.

I do not know for a fact that this is the delay, but it is the only logical conclusion.

I am thinking of pulling the plug on my order and let some hapless soul deal with the rust issue. Too much bad Karma.

In the time that it has taken to process this order, I have bought another house in another state, and no matter what, this is going to be an issue for dealer with Ford not seeing a match between the address on the order and the ship destination. Even though I am technically in two homes at the moment, there is no need for me to pay state tax in Texas to title it here and then turn around and pay again in PA where I will be moving. The only way that I get around that is to 1) not title it for 6 months in PA after titling in Texas, or 2) shipping directly to PA. PA will accept the taxes from another state as long as you have owned the car a minimum of 6 months.

And before you ask, yes I called Ford Customer Relations. They were unwilling to inform me on anything beyond what I already know.

Right now the alleged delivery date to dealer is around 2/9. I don't see it happening. It's going to sit there in the Mexican desert until the seating is all dry rotted out. It is not dealer's fault, but another in a run of reasons why I should know better than to order a new model in the first year of the model. I always preach to people to wait until Ford works out the kinks. I didn't listen to my own advice and now I am paying for it.

Sorry for all your troubles, but you may be working yourself into a lather and you don't need to.

The production process can involve the occasional 'oh crud' moment and your vehicle may have to get pulled off the line and have an issue addressed. Not a big deal, but if you know about it ahead of time, just do a thorough inspection out in the sunlight when you get it and have any issues you find fixed before you take delivery.

You could confirm with your dealer who actually owns the truck, my guess is that the dealer or Ford owns the truck, not you. The fact that you have moved, probably is not an issue if Ford or the dealer actually own the truck, as long as the dealer knows that.

If this entire experience (and your moving) has stressed you out that much, maybe just cancel it and walk away. The dealer may not like that, but he'll sell it before you're out the door. . . but it seems that maybe you are overthinking a common production line issue....take a breath.... go for a walk....Chances are really good that the truck is fine.

I agree. I think this is one of those "too much information is worse than a lack of information." Or a jump to conclusions based on the information available.

I mean, if @flashfearless 's Maverick was sitting on the dealer lot instead of being a build-to-order, who knows what issues may or may not have arisen before it got to the lot. He'd just buy it and be a happy customer.

I agree. Moving across the country is an adventure in and of itself, and ideally you'd want to move with as little as possible in order to minimize any issues rather than compound an already stressful situation.

I'd suggest passing on the Maverick until you're established in your new place.
