Tailgate Lock

I ordered tailgate lock along with the truck. When I got to install it, I see a bracket (pics attached).
Do I need to take that bracket to install tailgate locks?

Yes. I installed McGard 76029 Premium Pick-up Truck Tailgate Lock and per the instructions, the bracket needs to be removed.

The bracket you remove is somewhat of a tailgate lock, but it’s easy to remove. I did the same thing, bought the lock without looking first

That bracket seemed like a lock to me too. I will remove it and install the one I bought.

What model do you have? My XLT comes with factory tailgate lock.

I got the factory tailgate lock and the dealer installed it, incorrectly the first time. It put a big scratch on the bed where it rubbed while opening and closing the tailgate. I went back to the dealer and had them fix it. After a talk with the maintenance manager I had them buy some touch up paint to fix the scratch. I got to keep the rest to take care of scratches as they occur. That and I also was able to do this...
