I don’t have my truck yet, but I don’t like that...

I don't like it either.

I have a rubber bed mat on order for mine. When the truck comes in I will buy another piece of rubber to store under the bed mat and pull it out to extend over the tailgate; when I need it for tailgate knee padding to get up in the bed, or hauling mulch, etc.,
That should keep the mulch out of those tailgate holes. When done, I'll just slide the piece of rubber back under the bed mat for storage.

On my Chachkie, there are plenty of holes, all different sizes:

Some holes are bigger than others and they are clean; maybe because it never had any loose stuff in the bed? That's a good thing, give me a chance to put on some filtration for loose stuff.

Neither my Dodge, nor the F150 had these holes; albeit, they didn't have backup camera and remote lock either, but still. It should have a better design for the drainage, like on the side instead of the bottom...

I was thinking something along the lines of this that can snap into place over the 2 larger holes and protect from the big stuff but let moisture out.

So I take a load of yard debris to the dump, and sweep out the bed when I'm done. That's when I notice this giant access hole in the bottom of the tailgate that is collecting all the debris I was trying to sweep out. How have you solved this issue?

I was planning on duct taping my wife's yoga mat to the truck bed and the tail gate but am afraid she might notice creases where I have to fold it.

I was about to say this sounds like something a pair of scissors, silicone and a yoga mat could take care of.

I always keep a couple yoga mats handy. Never know when you’re gonna have to crawl around under or beside your truck on gravel or loose dirt. Plus the knees aren’t what they used to be.

I agree with @LtCasual this may need some 3D printing designs. If someone can convince ford to build my truck, I will get right on it. @Ford Motor Company? Are you listening? I need my truck so I can take measurements and test fit.

Yes, that is on the bottom edge of the tailgate, visible when you lower the tailgate

I always keep a cheap/free harbor freight blue tarp in bed of truck when hauling loose material . I also keep old area rugs in bed to use if flat happen or to protect the bed area that are not protected with my modified Bedliner . I also have a tonneau cover .
