Without pics we just have to take your word for it then. Good luck!
I’m pretty sure I know how to install a tail light. But looking through your post history it’s very apparent your additions to the forum are attempts at being inflammatory on the internet in every post you’ve commented in. So I’ll end it with you’re a super cool internet guy. Good luck in your future endeavors at adding zero value to the forums.

All I did was try to HELP confirm it was seated correctly. If you chose to take me asking for confirmation personally, then you had your mind made up before you even posted. Don't get mad because someone wants to start at the beginning and HELP to CONFIRM it's the clip. Like I said, I noticed the same issue and I told you how I diagnosed it. It's the internet... you expect everyone to just assume you did everything right all the time? You never make a mistake... huh.

BTW, I've posted more helpful additions to this forum than you ever will, judging by your thread here. But I guess you read all 25+ pages of history and threads I've started with "how to's" based on the service manual 90% of people don't even have? Not to mention my willingness to share said manual with 50+ people so far in the short time I've been here... among many other part number posts and how to's... And you wonder why the most recent stuff YOU CHOSE to see was against people with your mentality? You deserve it and you are rampant on these forums. Hell, even my own build log is more helpful than anything you have ever done here. Why you gotta make it personal if you can't compete?

But I "knew how to install a tail light" and had the same issue... so if you ever overcome the need to compensate we can confirm it's seated properly.

Is a picture REALLY that hard? Jeez... At this point I'd be willing to wager you'd just leave it loose on purpose then take a pic. So, Take care. Good luck with your tail light. Like I said... we'll just take your word for it then.

"I'll end it" with a confirmation that mine is seated correctly and this is what it should look like:

Ford Maverick Tail Light Socket/attachment 20230724_135236

I was hoping to help save you the need for the clip, that's all. I'd wish you the same luck but after that response, I couldn't care less.

Btw,
I just ordered some new retainers since the old ones simply won’t hold the pins anymore.

Redone the lens more times than I can count. Even kept a 5/16 socket driver in the bed to loosen the screws and re-set the pins.

The other side has been removed before as well. Those pin retainers didn’t deform or break. That lens stays in.

I had the same issue and posted about it under Fit and Finish. Basically, once you have everything lined up with the bolts started but not tight and the studs on the light fit firmly into the sockets (so you think they are fully installed) on the truck then just give the taillight a couple of strong taps with the palm of your hand over the spots where the mounting studs are. This will seat the mounting studs into the sockets. Mine haven't come loose since.

Good luck.

New retainers did the trick.
Sometimes the old ones just don’t hold no matter what you do.

It is plastic and like a lot of re-usable plastic pieces, some are, and some are not. It has a part number, order a new one...problem solved. Some of these plastic "seats" are damaged at the factory late on a Friday afternoon or early Monday mornings. I had to pull my RF fender splash shield off because I dropped the bracket for the hood strut down the inner fender. I retrieved the brkt and re-used all six clips. two popped loose and I replaced them with new ones. I bought a box of 320 of these various clips for $12 and have yet to regret my decision to get into the truck repair business this deep. LOL

Sounds to me I need to have some of these pins on hand when I change out my backup bulbs to LED. Then more of them when the undercoating is done. (y)

Careful... they know how to install a tail light...

New retainers did the trick.
Sure they did. You are definitely not here with anything to prove and it's just a coincidence this is the first time you mentioned it in your many threads including the one about your LED installation process...

I have ordered them. Just wasn’t sure what they were called exactly or a part number and was sure someone had ran into it before. Luckily they had and the part numbers were posted (and thankfully because I didn’t realize they installed completely differently till posting and looking at the parts diagrams). I used to keep all kinds of small parts for interior panels when I was doing car audio for people so I get it on why you keep a bunch of them

I'd call a body shop and ask what they cost before going to the parts department at Ford. The shops may have aftermarket replicas. They're usually cheaper.

They were $2 for 4 uppers and $2 for 4 lowers (only need 1 of each on each light). They’re $15 thru the ford parts website so the dealer would probably be $17 or so. I ordered thru ford.oempartsonline and got these and a replacement stone deflector (the mudflap/wind deflector in front of the rear wheel) for $30 shipped. And I didn’t have to spend time driving around (time saving is a big thing for me).
