Sync 4 question/casting or mirroring phone

Can you cast an iPhone to the screen. Planning a trip to Florida and kids were wondering if the could cast Netflix or Hulu on the screen? Just curious.

No, you cannot. No video plays at all while vehicle is in motion, casting or no.

Cheap tablets can be had for under fifty bucks.

There are wireless CarPlay devices you can buy on Amazon that boast being able to run Netflix and streaming services on the screen. No idea if they work though.

I already have wireless CarPlay on my Synch4 Lariat. There are plenty of “wired” to “wireless“ converters (I had one that never failed in my 2020 Accord) and some that include video, but will they work using video when you already have wireless CarPlay?
I have the question into Ottocast.

Honestly no idea. The wireless adapter that I have for my F150 takes over the screen when plugged in. I’m sure the same would occur with ottocast.

you can watch youtube in the vehicle if its parked and it works quiet well. . As far as video in motion i have not seen a workaround for it yet.

So this is why the Audio Control Modules and APIMS are so busy and a programming nightmare for dealing with rear-view video issues (thinking of recalls for other Ford models too).
They are trying to figure out when/how to block video to the screen.

They are needing to do the same thing the warning on plastic bags is doing.
You know - the warning about don't wrap this bag around your head, you could suffocate.
Because someone did it.

Sometimes I get full screen as seen in the picture, other times I get that annoying side screen with trip and mpg info which obstructs some of the viewing experience.

I couldn't get rid of the side screen at all in the 2025 Bronco Sport loaner I had.
Though, I didn't have an external device specifically for this, just my same AAWireless adapter that uses my phone's data instead of hotspot.

Almost full screen on Sync 3.

Okay. Went to a new subdivision where there's no traffic to take pictures of content playing while I'm in motion.

My setup:
Ottocast from Tiktok ($50±)
Onn. Full HD streaming stick from Walmart ($14±)

That's it. Onn. comes with a remote. Setup your Google account with the streaming stick and your set.

My review:
**Ottocast doesn't mirror Android, even though they say it can. Apparently mirrors Apple no problem. Tried updating firmware as the little manual said, but my Pixel 4a just wouldn't mirror.
**Onn. is a little sluggish both on startup and general navigation between apps and such. Only 1.5 gigs of RAM is the culprit I bet. Still....I'd choose a stick version over a little box version any day. It's small and only needs USB for power.

Word of caution though...stay focused on the road. I use it to play specific music from YouTube since my Sirius XM subscription is no more. The remote lets me skip ads and progress to the next song (music video) in my playlist.
