Never tried YouTube music or New pipe. Might have to look into it. Mainly answering original posters query.
Like i said, I mainly use it for listening to videos. Don't actually watch it while driving.
Now a passenger...that's a different story. They can watch to their hearts content.

What external device are you using.
By adding an external device....Yes, you can watch YouTube and other programs while driving. I'm parked at my house in this picture, but trust me, TopGun was playing while I was driving home.
Oddly
Sometimes I get full screen as seen in the picture, other times I get that annoying side screen with trip and mpg info which obstructs some of the viewing experience.
