Sync 3 Audio Skipping Issue

Hi all, I did some searching around but haven't found anything that really matches. My Sync 3 system has had an annoying audio skip when using CarPlay or bluetooth since new. Any other Sync 3 people have this issue? It doesn't happen every song, but it's happened up to 3 times in a song for me.

I threw a video together. Listen carefully about halfway through each song clip for the jump:

Things I've tried:
  • Different audio app. Tried Apple Music and Spotify, happens on both.
  • Different phone. Previously had an iPhone SE 2020 but have since upgraded to a 15 Pro. Both phones do it.
  • Different cable. Used the official Type-C to Lightning cable before, now using the official Type-C to Type-C cable. Happens with both.
  • Manual reboot, factory reset, un-pair and re-pair, etc.
It's at the dealer now to get checked out (and I've sent them the video), but I was curious if anyone else experienced this, if they did anything about it, and what the resolution was. I don't imagine the dealer will be chomping at the bit to give me a new Sync 3 APIM.

My Lariat with Sync 3 has also done this pretty much since new. However, it seems like it has done it more after being a couple months old. It isn't terrible on mine, just a minor annoyance. I usually listen via USB and it does it there as well. I don't remember it happening with satellite radio or regular radio.

Haven’t had any issues with mine but most all of my use has been playing music from usb and some on XM radio

I just took delivery of my 2024 Maverick Lariat on 2 May Sync3. It does the same to me Skips while Playing Spotify or Iheartradio . OEM Samsung Cable. My Wife has a 2020 Ford Edge with Sync3 and it does not slip a beat.

It's going back to the dealer in a week. I'm almost certain it's the DSP module behind the rear seat. See if your dealer can swap that out.

Hey guys, Mine's been doing this since new too. Did anyone end up fixing it after going through all of these actions, sending VIN numbers, etc.? Basically, is it worth my time to fix it, or are you all still putting up with it anyway?

I have one more appointment on the 29th. They’ve replaced the APIM and DSP… no joy. Hoping it’s the ACM.

This will be dealer visit number 8…

Well good luck with #8! I'm guessing everyone else let this one slide. Seems like more trouble than it's worth, especially if there's not a known fix. Maybe one of those software downloads will eventually patch it.

I saw your PM, Ford. I'll wait until there's any evidence of actual success with someone before embarking on that journey...

I have this same annoying problem in my new '24 Lariat! Funny thing is I had a 22 XLT (no Sync 3) and I don't remember it doing it. I have a Pixel 9 Pro and have tried both an AAWireless adapter and a USB C cable and it does it with either. Sometimes 4-5 times per song. It's a pause/skip that's about 1 second long. Very freaking annoying. I think it's with Sync and not the Spotify or phone itself.

Yeah it’s Sync. No other device I own does it. Thank you for your comment - our symptoms align perfectly.

Dealer visit 8 went so-so. They’re able to replicate the issue and the truck’s going back next week. Pretty disheartening that it took this long for a consistent reproduction and acknowledgement of the issue. All but one previous visit was going by my word rather than an actual diagnosis.

Wonder how many Sync 3 peeps either don’t notice because they listen to exclusively AM/FM/XM or don’t care enough to actually look into it?
