Not sure where to post this, so I figured I'd try here. Mods can move it if you think you can find a better spot.

Anybody have a sunshade, or any recommendations for sunshades, that would work with dash cams without frying them (laughs)?

General consensus says you don't need to block the camera between the sunshade and the glass, which makes sense.

That gives me two options:
1. Get a cheap one and cut a slot out to make it fit.
2. Get an external sunshade.

Was just cirious if anyone else had tried anything.

Can you post a photo?

I just installed mine today and placed it a bit higher up behind the mirror at the edge of the black dotted area. It just clears the mirror cutout in the Ford windshield shade:

Good day

We purchased the Mabett sunshade and my wife simply cut the center part more deeply, which was already cut a bit.

She then sewed a cover edging over the fresh cuts on each side, so they look the same as what was already there.

You just have to make sure you cut far enough so the sunshade can go around the camera on both sides so the sunshade can go between the window and the cam.

The Mabett sunshade seems well constructed, sturdy and insulates the interior from a lot of the heat from the sun quite well.

I hope this helps, sorry I can't add a photo of ours, as we are a half continent away from our truck right now and in our camper van, visiting some of our children in NS.

Good luck and I hope you find the right solution for you!

I just park my Maverick so it doesn't face the sun. Works every time

Fun fact: The sun moves throughout the day
another fun fact, the sun never sets in the north, but as long as you're not getting full direct sunshine it's probably not going to fry your camera. Another fun fact, the sun doesn't move, the earth rotates.
