Subaru Auto Dimming Mirror

I followed this post, only when I wired mine I swapped the black middle wire with the black wire with the white stripe.

Depends how you wire it the mirror if you wire the homelink portion to battery power yes, if you wire it to accessory power no. I wired both I installed to accessory power so the homelink buttons only have power with the key in the ignition and turned to on or run.

Can you elaborate on this? I want to install one, but only work when the ignition is on.

Nothing wild or difficult just make sure the black outer wire from the mirror ground goes to the ground. Then I would run the other two wires to accessory power. That way if someone breaks into your truck they won't be able to open your garage, if you park outside since it will only be powered on with the key

Has anyone tried to install one?

Yes, I have installed one I got from my 2025 Subaru Forester. I can confirm that mirrors from 2019-2025 Subaru Foresters and Crosstreks will work. See picture attached, its from my 2024 Maverick Lariat. Its from the Subaru Forester. I just like that its an auto dimmed mirror, garage door opener and has a compass built in. A bummer that an almost $40K Maverick, loaded didn't have that type of mirror.

I forgot to ask: what wire did you end up using to run from the mirror to the fuse box? Or did you wire directly overhead? I’m trying to find the right kind of wire for tapping into fuse #3.

I soldiered to the overhead domelight connection.
