i wanna install a sub in my maverick. I know there’s a lot of posts on this already but whatever. I wanna know what I need to buy to make this work i already have all new speakers so the only think left is the sub. Most importantly what connector do I need. I see a lot of people get the pluginplay kits one. will that work with any Amp? Sorry in advance I’m kinda an audio noob. Any info helps thanks!

Welcome to MTC!!!

I used: PAC LPHFD31 LocPro Advanced T-Harness
I used high level inputs to amps (Kicker Key)

1st question to answer, a powered sub (easy) or a sub with a separate amp (complex and varried)

A Plug n Play kit or the Pac T harness above should work to give you high level inputs to an amplifier. You might want to install your upgrade speakers first and see how they sound. The reason I suggest this, is it will be easier to decide if you are happy with the upgrade, or if you want to amplify them along with the sub. Then, if you want to do a 5 channel vs 2 separate amps, you won't end up buying twice or trying to figure out how/where to mount a 2nd amp

I already have the upgraded speakers installed. I don’t mind how they sound. with the harness for the amp do I have to wire the speakers into the amp or sense it’s hooked into the harness it just connects the speakers that way? Also what amp would you recommend? Sorry once again I’m somewhat new to audio

The T harness is basically an OEM fit harness splitter to tap into your speaker inputs. It feeds a high level input signal to an amplifier since you will not have RCA outputs to use on the factory radio. It does not run like an output from your amplifier to your speakers.

Have you decided on a sub/box setup yet? That really helps determine what amplifier to choose based on how much power you need at what ohm load. I am running 2 Hertz MPS250s wired at 1ohm on a D'amore 1500.1 for the subs.

I would definitely opt for a 10" sub, build or buy a box for one of your rear underseat storage areas, and put the amp behind the seat.

O okay that clarifies a lot thanks. I was thinking about doing a 10 inch sub. Not sure what brand yet but I’m gonna build the box myself.

Me too!

But I'm too lazy to do it.

Got down to do my oil the other day, was going to rotate tires and flush the transmission... but the nope kicked in.

Maybe if I had gotten a non Lariat I'd already have a sub installed, but the 6x9 handles Skrillex pretty well...
