I was doing research and found an ad on Cars.com and my dealerships website showing my truck with the exact VIN as mine for sale! Has anyone else seen their ordered vehicle for sale online?

People have said some dealerships automatically list their entire inventory/delivery orders online, either because they're too lazy to manage the system better or to drum up call ins. So I wouldn't get too worked up about it.

All the same, maybe call them and ask.

Seeing this all over autotrader as well. They'll have a Mav "listed" at MSRP, but when you ask, they will tell you it's a customer order. Definitely an auto update from the dealer.

Thanks guys! I am just concerned that they are trying to start a bidding war on my vehicle. That would not be cool.

Awesome, looks like a great build. I just called and put down a deposit for it. Thanks!

Just kidding, of course. As others have already noted, many dealers automatically list their vehicles on various websites as a way to drum up interest--especially if a deal falls through, then they have a car to sell.

Based on discussions with dealers I've had, the inventory is collected through an API and automatically listed in their inventory until it's actually sold and the keys are handed over. This will happen regardless if it's a special order already allocated to a customer.

This is confusing for us as buyers, but helps the dealerships get more traffic, so I doubt they'll ever change their APIs.

If this were a bidding war you would have been advertising the sale of your Maverick. Good thing your likely safe.

Places like cars.com scrape the Ford website and put that stuff up there without anyones permission. They hope you will go thru them to buy and then they get a cut from the dealer. Companies like Google scrape every web site in the country. That’s why Google search will return all that stuff when you do a search.

Dealers don't manual enter new vehicle inventory on their websites....their inventory feed comes directly from Ford. This inventory feed may be shared with other websites as well.

I'm glad someone has a vin# I haven't even gotten an email from Ford and I ordered in Aug.
Just call, these websites pull strait from dealer main so no one checked the order. Your good.

This is like the automotive version of grocery stores putting images of backordered products on the shelves because it looks so empty.
