Saw this older Ford out the other day and it definitely wins on style. Those "Cars" eyes are a classic, but it got me thinking about how we’re all handling the heat in our Mavericks this summer.

It’s great for visibility, but the size and angle also seem to turn the cabin into a bit of a greenhouse once the truck sits for a while.

Steering wheel too hot, dash baking.

We’ve seen pretty different setups for this depending on how people actually use their Maverick day to day.

Sunshade when it’s easy, parking in shade when possible, or just dealing with the heat soak and letting the AC catch up after.

Curious what most people here actually end up doing consistently when the truck sits in full sun.

With sunshades in general, two things seem to matter most in real use — fitment around the windshield edges, and how easy they are to fold and store. Those usually end up deciding whether it actually gets used long-term or not.

We’ve had one version in that category as well here if helpful:

Main difference vs universal fold-up shades is pretty simple — less variation in coverage once it’s up.

If anyone’s already running something like this, would be interested to hear how it’s holding up in real use.

I recently bought some back window vents. I thought it was gonna be placed over the window, but it actually sits on top on the window rolled down. There are some small gaps. I haven't really used them yet because it has been raining recently.

I bought the type that functions like an umbrella a little over three years ago and still use it today. It fits my 23's windshield nearly perfect and the handle rests safely on the housing of the center screen. I have had to make some minor repairs to a few of the metal frame to shade material by hand sewing a few connection points. It stows easily in the bottom forward console area.

I bought a Pigenus Sunshade for my 2024 Honda HR-V from Amazon. It has four layers, as opposed to one or two on competitors shades. It keeps the heat from transferring through the shade. The best part; it keeps the dark dash and steering wheel from getting hot.
I don't really need one in Ohio where my Mav is, but in Florida it really helps.

The sun shade helps a lot in AZ heat, but parking so the windshield faces north or away from the sun's direction makes a big difference in heat transfer.
The best of course is parking in the shade, in a garage, or under a carport...

I religiously use a quality sunshade here in AZ. One obvious thing to do to allow the sunshade to work properly is to park facing the sun, as much as possible. I just SMH when I see a shade in the windshield but the rear end is facing the sun.

And with that means that your headlamp lenses will always be baking. I installed that Lamin-X plastic film on my '25 which is supposed to help prevent or at least slow down the oxidation/fading/cloudiness from forming on the lenses. It's available either clear, tinted, or colors.
