Just replaced the front and rear speakers in my 25 XLT hybrid. Now the audio cuts out at high volume or when listening to a song with heavy bass. Do I need to get an amp or Forscan and mess with the eq?

Knowing what speakers you put in might be helpful.

My first thought, with the limited info we have, is to double check the physical connections. If volume or bass are the primary triggers, it could be vibration related.

Do all the channels cut out at once? If so, that means the problem is pretty early in the signal path.

Everything cuts at once. Really screws up my truck karaoke 😂

The solution is, of course, MORE POWER! You will need to add an aftermarket amplifier for the speakers you replaced.

Try this: Set the fader to the front speakers only (or rears) and see if the behavior changes.

I am not an electrical engineer but I have owned many vehicles and have modified and built many automobile and home sound systems. I have some laymans idea of what is happening.

The factory system is built to a cost/performance metric. The OEM speakers and OEM amplifiers are "matched" to each other for both impedance and current capabilities. Speakers are funny things - their electrical characteristics change with frequency and amplitude (so, impedance and resistance change). You would think that replacing a 4 ohm speaker with another 4 ohm speaker would mean it will all just "work" but that is often not the case, during use the impedance can drop allowing more or less current to flow, e.g., 4 ohms can become 2 or 6 depending on the signal presented.

The OEM speakers are made to be as efficient as possible so that the OEM amplifier can use a less expensive amplifier IC (integrated circuit). Your new speakers are made to handle more current than the OEM amplifier is capable of. At modest volumes you don't notice but when you turn up the volume the OEM amplifier runs out of current ("headroom") and the resulting effect is what you describe - the sound "cuts out", there is just not enough power in the amplifier power circuit and it either distorts from the overload (unprotected clipping, this is the bad thing that kills amplifiers) or, if the amplifier is (hopefully) designed to self-protect, by clipping the power off completely and then resetting itself. This is why I suggested fading to one pair of speakers - the amplifier will have more headroom in it's power circuitry if it is only driving 2 speakers vs. 4.
