CarMax sold more than half because they had to dump them, for a huge loss mind you. They were trying to sell them for 60k just the night before, for a 2021 model year. Now overnight they were selling them for 40s. What happened to used Tesla value? What happen to those that brought a 60k Model Y just weeks before? Whats is their car worth now?
I didn't realize that Tesla was only the Model Y. I thought they had other models that received only a modest decrease (3) or no decrease at all (S and X).

Calm down - they slashed prices to get the tax rebate. They had been steadily raising prices for the last year and a half. I know it's the in thing to do to shit on Elon Musk and Tesla but Tesla is still the leader in EVs and will be for quite some time.

A lot of what you parrot are old and disproved tropes about EVs.

They are the future. They aren't for everyone right now. Like all vehicles they have trade offs that one needs to take into account before purchasing.

It really amazes me how people get so passionate and ass chapped about EVs and ICE vehicles like there isn't room on the road for both. It's crazy to me because I respect all vehicles from a Rubicon 392 to a Prius Prime and everything in between.

Why do people feel they need to announce their exit?
For the same reason that you signed up on the forum and decided to comment on his new Tesla.

With the recent price drop, I went ahead and ordered a Tesla Model Y Performance. I know, not the same vehicle or price. I already have a truck so the Maverick was just an extra vehicle for gas saving. The Tesla will deliver in about 1 month, I have no idea when the Maverick will be here.... I will check out the Maverick when it delivers, if it ever does... Mostly for the wife but with an EV, Bronco and a truck I don't see much need for the Maverick anymore.
Congrats! We've had our MY LR since April 2020 and love it! Trips from Nebraska to Louisiana and Georgia were a piece of cake though during that first trip, I was a bit nervous. Charging times during the trips is almost nothing since we typically stop for 15 minute 'nature breaks' every 2 1/2-3 hours anyway and that's all the charge time we need. It's definitely a fun car and I'm sure the performance version is so much more! We've saved 1,764 gallons of gas/$6,156 vs. the Explorer it replaced. We've spent $1,586 on electricity instead for a savings of $4,556 over 32 months... That's $1,708 per year saved... plus any oil changes, brakes, etc. that the Explorer would have costed in addition. My wife wasn't onboard to replace the Explorer at first but she just told me she'll never buy a gas vehicle again. She isn't out to save the world or anything, it's just too convenient and she just loves being able to schedule the car to be ready when she gets off work so it's comfortable when she gets in. Anyway, I ramble. Enjoy the Model Y!

why do you care? just don't pay attention if you don't agree.
Would be different if it was a thread saying I also bought a Tesla
I don’t care about that, it just seems daily we have someone announcing they are tired of waiting and are leaving

Why not just leave quietly? That part I don’t get

also it seems you are quite angry

if you call those refreshes, sure. They’ve looked the same for a LONG time.
Yeah, I'll give you that. They haven't changed much. I know there's been some seen in the wild with camo which are part of the upcoming refresh. I'm sure the overall look will be similar with maybe just front/rear ends changing. They are selling a ton of them despite the stale styling

OP clearly said he was getting a Model Y so my comments were focused on that. I merely made a follow on comment that he will most likely not save any money over a Maverick Hybrid, considering gas savings, increase in insurance, accelerated depreciation. You act like the Model Y doesnt depreciate. Its pretty obvious OP has some coin and gas savings is not a factor. MYP doesnt qualify for the rebate and his AGI might disqualify him anyway.

I would have made the same comment if he got another 55-60k car and compared it against it against a 25k Maverick. I am neither pro or against Tesla...

I'm very seriously considering the same move. If I need a truck I can rent one at Home Depot, and Lowes by the hour quite inexpensively. In the meantime a model Y will haul my bikes and equipment just fine. I'll see how long I sit on the fence.

If you qualify for the $7,500 tax credit even better. Get a utility trailer for HD & L runs.

If you can charge at home, your area has cheap electric, and you have another vehicle for longer trips why not? I've only ridden in a 3. It was okay, kind of boring and generic. When we had to charge it at a "fast charger" it said it would take 30 minutes but after 45 it was not full and there were people waiting so my friend had to go back that night to finish. Seemed like way to much trouble for me.

I like the looks of the Maverick so that's what I want to drive. It won't be my only vehicle.

Hope you don't have to remove that comma!

Great thought out post. I agree with everything you said. We are considering a Model Y since the decrease and price and tax rebates. Federal and state rebates are 10K i believe. My wife has a bronco, I have an f150 and the Mav was just for a little beater to run errands and save fuel.

Telsa's charging network is unmatched and likely wouldn't be an issue for most as I'd rent a vehicle to take long trips. Thanks for your post, as you've given me something to ponder. The Y hits both a nicer vehicle to drive and fuel savings in one.

Respectfully, then why are you commenting on this specific thread? I actually enjoy reading others thoughts and experiences that pertain to other vehicles. You get to choose which thread to click on. If a thread doesn't interest you, go to another one. We all have a choice but to be honest, having people like you come and add pointless comments ruins the experience because it doesn't contribute to nothing. If you have something worth sharing, great, I would like to read it. If not, move on.
