You may know this already but those leaves work their way down the sides along the door hinges. I take my shop vac periodically and pull out wads of them with the door open down near the kick plate
Do you remove the fender insulation pieces? Or might yours me missing? You've been here a while; I guess you know the threads.

The fender insulation completely fills the side gaps on mine. I haven't tried removing them and seeing what horrors it reveals. (I guess I will have to now...)

Our $1500 carport only keep the sun off the RV and my wood shop, rated to
Miami-Dade windloads, my garage keeps my Maverick safe from hoodlums, leaves, acid rain, beach weather and critters of various sizes. I worked in the building permit office, an old guy (this was twentyish years ago) came in to get a permit for a storage building 3 months after the CO on his house, asking why, he said "I have $50,000 worth of fine German engineering sitting in my driveway because I have $500 dollars worth of crap in my garage."

Almost one year, and one big problem -- that gap.

Picked up a cover on the web, fits well. Size: 90"x60"

Had just a bit of snow last night. 9" of the real heavy wet stuff. The windshield cover worked well!

You need to brace a carport here up north. Used stainless cable and u bolts to firm it up. Mounted some 2x4s to give support with the weight of the snow.

Luckily I have a garage for the Mav but the boat needs cover too! Hoping to get an all metal one next year to close it in. Cleaning the damned leaves out every spring is getting old.

I can't believe all these posts about parking the Maverick outdoors overnight. The only reason I bought the Maverick is because it is small enough (under 200 inches long) to fit in the garage.

I loved the comment about parking $50,000 worth of fine German engineering outside because of $500 worth of crap in the garage. How true.

Maybe everyone doesn't have free garage space? Some homes don't have garages either. We have two other cars, they get priority in the garage because are nicer vehicles.

HOA in my area would definitely not be happy with a carport of sorts.

Now that I’ve cleared out the garage of pinball machines and replaced them with boxes of Mardi Gras ”valuables” because my wife wanted me to start cleaning out the rental storage unit, she’s still not happy our vehicles are still sitting outside. $500.00 (at best) of Mardi Gras stuff that I moved from New Orleans to Texas prevents a 22 Escape and a 23 Maverick Lariat from being inside. She’s of the opinion that I should make good use of that Maverick and put all the Mardi Gras junk in the bed and take it to the dump. 😳
If you need to get rid of those pinball machines, I can help. I know lots who f people, including myself, that would buy them.

If you can’t or don’t have a garage or carport; consider cutting the trees down that are near where you park.

Of course you are correct. It was just ironic to me because garage space had everything to do with my purchasing the Maverick. While there are other reasons for selecting the Maverick, I would have selected a mid-size pickup for the extra bed length if I had no garage.

This 100%. I currently have 4 vehicles and only 2 garage spots so the crappiest car gets put outside all year (sorry maverick) lol

I have never had a garage, nor do I have one now in the North-East. There's no carport either, or windshield cover, I just learned to live with it. My cordless leaf blower takes care of the leaves and even the powdery snow.
Wet snow on the other hand is a pain to remove from the gap, but it does not take long. Removing wet snow from the old F150 had been a breeze, even my Avalon is easy....
