I wonder if it's possible to make a snorkel for usage on the Maverick. Why aren't there Maverick snorkel kits? Should they make snorkel kits for the Maverick?

Snorkels and modern vehicles dont really mix well. If you have an old carbed or diesel motor and you sealed up everything else it will work to a point but if you took a Maverick in hood depth water. The lost of thuings that would never work again would be very long.

Snorkels aren't necessarily just for fording but also getting up above where there's less dust if you're in a drier sandier environment. And even wading in lower levels of water doing so at a more spirited pace can risk water ingestion with a grille-level intake which'll ruin your day (and your engine) pretty fast.

Hmmm so modifying a vehicle, spending hundreds of dollars, and potentially cutting holes in it. All to extend air filter life? Hmmm.

As for the spirited driving. The computer is located a foot off the ground behind some felt.
Don't get me wrong, I off-road, literally every day. With the potential for river crossings but for me and my monthly loan payment a foot of water is my Tremors limit. Until I lift it, then it's slightly more.

An air filter still needs to flow air (and a clogged air filter flows even less) so therefore there's limitations to how perfectly it can filter and the finer particles are the ones more likely to be hanging out in the air a few feet above the surface. There's a reason that tractors and offroad equipment have elevated air intakes with cyclonic separators, filters, and pre-filters. And one of the best ways to evaluate how effective an air filter is is by measuring how much silica ie sand is making it into the engine oil.

Tractors are literally turning soil and dirt. Mavericks are not. If anybody wants to cut their maverick and install a snorkel, go right ahead. You own it, so do what you will.

The rest of us just don't have to participate in any shape, form, or fashion, of your search for cleaner air.

Another answer in search of a perceived problem.

How is moving the intake to the roof less dusty lol. You will take in the same amount of dust. It's one thing to alter in the hopes of avoiding direct contact with larger particles, like bugs, and removing the direct collision with air intake being on the front of the vehicle, but dirt *in Jeff Goldblum voice* will uh... find a way.

You'd have to wall off the intake multiple times to make a difference when it comes to small particles. Could it be done? Sure, but a vehicle like the Maverick won't benefit from it in any real way. You'd probably just starve the engine of fresh air the more you try to filter. So putting a snorkel on is not the same thing when it comes to actual filtration of smaller particles.

The other issue is the dif's. You'd also have to relocate the breather tubes and I have no idea where those even are on the Mavericks RDU/PTU, but it's safe to assume doing so would be more work than it's worth especially for a vehicle like the Maverick. Also consider the transmissions breather tube that is directly below the intake's filter box in the engine bay.

And then there is the wiring and all those poorly placed connections. They are IP rated for splashes, or "water resistant", but not water proof. Also, the giant holes in the floor - like where they mount the 6x9's poor excuse for a "bandpass". Stuff like that. Even adding a 2" lift to these Mavericks is kind of a gimmick in terms of overall clearance especially when you factor in what you are clearing and how - and doubly so when considering treading water in the sense we are talking about in this thread. You may clear that rock, but will it remain clear as you travel over it and what is there to keep it from puncturing the actual floor or snagging on something like the exhaust. The Maverick is not an on frame truck and if you attempted any serious off roading or water treading - you'd find out the difference real quick and likely high center yourself on something even a stock height on frame truck can overcome fairly easily.

Overall, you'd have your work cut out for you and quite frankly, it wouldn't be worth it. Buy an on frame truck like a Tacoma that is well known for having this sort of stuff done to it and will actually benefit from doing the work.

Now, if this was an episode of Top Gear/The Grand Tour, then maybe it would serve a comical purpose at the very least lol.

If you're thinking of using it for water crossing, I'd be concerned about submerging the HV Battery.

Ok here is your answer:

Stupid idea....the maverick is not meant in any way to go in water deep enough to require a snorkle.

Stupid idea.... to believe that a snorkel is required for enhanced engine intake filtration on a maverick.

There have been many stupid ideas over the years posted on this forum, this thread is certainly in the top 10, probably in the top 3. Hell, it is probably in the running for the all time silliest.

Simple answer to a simple question: No there is no snorkle kit, because it is a stupid idea. A person can fabricate a kit if they wish, and install said kit. It is their vehicle. However they should realize that it will be a rolling advertisement of stupidity.

If you see a maverick equipped with a snorkle, parked in front of Lowes. The driver walks out to the vehicle, you strike up a conversation. He tells you that he fabricated and installed a snorkle because of the smaller size particulates located at hood height and below.

An answer in search of a problem.

Obviously not read the owner's manual do not get above your Center axle, up in water starts getting into the electronics and burning out sensors modular

Yeah there is no reason to be taking these trucks through deep water. Sure it can do alot of crazy stuff offroad but that definitely ruin it faster. This is coming from a guy who started his offroading mostly in riverbeds. Even with my old CJs once the tires go totally under you are pushing your luck for alot of ruined parts if you dont disassemble everything when you get home.
