I used this shelf/board that I had, to create a large shelf in the back. I put padding on the seat to support and level it. The board is 2'ft x 4ft. For you purpose you might install "feet" on the floorboard side.

I drive from NY to FL twice a year pulling a trailer with a motorcycle on it. Several years ago I ran into a theft issue at a hotel on my trip and have since choose to sleep in my vehicle at rest stops. Last year (as well as heading down this year), I slept in the front passenger seat on full recline but it was far from ideal. coming home this year I slept in the back seat and other than not being able to stretch out was much more comfortable. Since I have to sleep on my side in the back I really don't see how flipping the seat up would work for me. I'm taller than you but I still think losing the width would be tough for you as well.

Thanks for your input. I was just wondering ifI might have more width if I lifted the bench seat up and filled the whole space with a board cut to fit.

I do see other ideas, including a board that spans the seat and legroom area while it’s in its normal unfolded position, but putting supports under that board, (with the front seat pushed forward) to sleep on — with padding, etc., of course.

All to be considered further once I get the truck and can see the space close up.

Thanks. I don’t plan to rip the cab apart. I’ve seen some cool bed tents, etc., but because I can’t lock myself in a tent in an open truck bed, I don’t feel secure at night, being a 72-year-old woman.

There's a number of options in Amazon to convert the back seat into a bed. One of them is in my cart and I'll try and find this and post the link later. Boy would it be nice to take out the back window and make a bunk or extend the bed.
Yes to both! I'm waiting for someone to remove the back window for a "pass through". I was thinking of modifying a cap to extend to the end of the lowered tailgate.

Believe it or not, someone does make a removable pass through rear window for the Maverick:
