Is the RIVAL skid plate for the non-fx4, or the FX4 or for the tremor or the FWD? The 3 options have different mounting points.
Looks like it is for the non-fx4, so maybe it fits the fwd as well? But it is hard to tell from the photos.
When I was talking to Rival they were specifically looking for a non-FX4 Ecoboost to do their test fitting with.

I can see that, the non-FX4 market would be the biggest. Most people with an FX4 or Tremor would be happy with the factory skid plate.

But I guess I am not most people. I have already scraped up the plastic in front of the skid plate. The HRG skid would cover that but it also does not fit the Tremor. It is good to see options are glowing.

Not sure. Both their pictures and the pictures on the HRG site are poor. I don't believe the HRG provides good coverage based on what I can see...which is unfortunate. Would love to be wrong.

HRG plate isn't meant to provide full under engine coverage. It's meant to give approach angle coverage.

What concerns me about the rival unit is a lack of a cooling scoop for the ptu. They should have mimicked the setup on the FX4 plates.

What is wrong with with the JCR shield?
From what I understand, it has standard screw heads that are easily removed with a hex or torx wrench (I forget which) and doesn't offer any appreciable deterrence to theft. Toyota recently entered into a partnership with Miller CAT which manufacturers Toyota approved cat shields for several models. I also have a 4Runner and purchased one immediately. Ford should do the same given the problem isn't getting any better.

There was one posted in the for sale form, it has sold. Would be great if who ever got it would post some more photos with it installed.

here is one of the photos of the used one.

It looks like it covers mostly what the ford one does but also goes foreword more.

Hard to tell how it would match up with the factory one but with nothing to give it scale.

Here is a photo of my ford factory skid.

and one more photo of the HRG one.

Thank you AMCfoxbody for posting the HRG skid plates.

The HRG skid plate can fit both FX4 and non-FX4 but it comes with a different mounting kit with different inserts and bolts depending on what model you have.

But I have the Tremor. I talked to HRG and they think it may fit the TREMOR but no one has tried it yet.

It looks like it would add coverage right where I need it. I have already scratched up the plastic where it meets the metal skid in the front. I just don't know if i want to be the first to buy and install this on a Tremor. (if I had the FX4 i would have already ordered it already)

The Tremor has such a different (Better) approach angle then the FX4 I could see it not having the right profile.

If any one has the HRG offroad skid please post some photos.

Yes, I think you are right, the HRG skid plate would match the profile of the fx4 and be wrong for the tremor.

Great Job on your custom made skid plate. It looks like it fits perfectly.

Do you have photos of the construction or of it being installed?

Your maverick is looking great. I love the lights in the bumper and grill, they blend in so well. Do you have a build post going over all your modifications? You must have swapped the bumper?

Your truck looks really clean, at first glance I missed many of the changes they are done so well.

Yeah that looks good, was thinking about modding a BS piece to fit.
Any more detail would be appreciated. 😁

The odd part is it says the skid plate must be removed to change the oil filter, but it appears to have an access door for the oil filter?

I caught that too. But I think they just copy/pasted from the Broco Sport cover description. It doesn't seem to have the same access. Hoping...
