Simple hack for more comfortable tailgate (to sit / kneel on) - cushioned pad / mat

Anti-fatigue mats also make a great cheap flipover tailgate protector when hauling a bike.

Needing more info here. Are you saying you just flop the mat over the tailgate and bend it over, placing the bike on top of it?

Yep. Works great with front wheel hanging off the back of the tailgate and the mat under it. Stays in place from the weight of the bike and the wheel, and protects the tailgate.

Stall Mat from Tractor Supply ($50) cut to fit bed and just enough left over to mount to the tailgate. It can be flipped over to the smooth side.

is it cushioned for ya? How you mount it? Double sided tape? I wonder if it can work with spray-in bed liner.

Or for $39.99 you can buy the indoor/outdoor foot wiping carpet at HomeDepot, which is nice and thick. I ultimately used some double sided vinyl (removable) double sided tape, which has held it lace for 2 years now on the tailgate. (Bed just lays in place, although I did use carpet tape to joins the narrow trim pieces in front of the storage/outlet areas).

It should work just fine with a spray-in bed liner.

Yes it does add weight to the tailgate. I recommend a tailgate assist shock.
