My Maverick Lariat with Lariat lux and a lot of options is not even scheduled to be built yet. I ordered it in July 2021. Our dealer tells me that they have a 1st Edition coming in May/June and I can have 1st dibs on it. Ford insisted each dealer have a 1st Edition whether they want one or not. The 1st Edition is about $4000 more than the Lariat that I ordered and has a few options different but none are deal breakers. Should I get the 1st Edition or wait and wait till god know when? Supply issues don't seem to be getting any better. What do you guys and gals think?

I think your dealer is feeding you a line about Ford insisting each dealer take a 1st edition. That's 3,100 Mavericks that could/should be going to customers who've placed custom orders. I'm guessing they have a canceled customer order for a 1st edition en route to their store. That being said, you should buy the truck if it's what you want. Color, options, price, etc. Nobody but you can answer that question. Is the extra $4,000 a big deal? Are you OK with the differences between what you ordered and what the other truck has, option-wise? I don't remember the 1st edition package being $4,000 above the cost of a lariat lux. Is the difference ADM?

As a July order, I'd guess you're very likely to get a build date for your truck relatively soon. My hybrid was ordered in November. I'm highly unlikely to see my vehicle before November, 2022.

No one can make that decision for you. Can you afford the extra cost? Do you like the color? Etc.

If the vehicle is at MSRP and in a configuration you can be happy with I'd pay a little more to get the vehicle now. They aren't going to be getting any cheaper, IMO.

Personally I paid 5k markup to avoid the wait. 40k vs 45k is not that big of a difference. It would be a little harder to stomach a 5k markup on a 25k or 30k maverick.

If you're buying an ecoboost, IMO the 4k tow is a must have. The added cooling to the drive train is a no brainer.

Yes, ecoboost with 4k tow. Difference in price is 44k vs 49k. Our dealer already received one Maverick in a configuration that they didn't order, An xl with a bunch of options. It was only on the lot for 4 days and it was gone. But I did get to test drive it.

Should I stay or should I go now?
Should I stay or should I go now?
If I go there will be trouble
And if I stay it will be double

So come on and let me know

SHOULD I STAY, OR SHOULD I GO???

Personally I wouldn’t pay more than 35k for a fully loaded Maverick. Once you get to the 50k point, I’d get an F-150 Lightning instead for a bit more.

Sold out for a couple years. Im sure the lightning will go for double that. My buddy had A day one reservation and won’t get a MY22. But I agree that 50k is WAY too much for a Maverick

Your choice. I waited 8 mos for my Lariat First Edition Hybrid. Monroney: $34,160, received 03/05/2022 (ordered 07/07/2021)

Even had I ordered the EB AWD, the cost would be about $37,500 ..... The FE package is worth the price if you want what it comes with (the decals are the only thing you can not add separately, at the time of order in 2021). I would not pay $49K, mind as well get a F-150 Lariat. Again, your choice.

My location is Canada and costs for new vehicles are a lot higher here than in the States. Cost for an entry level Maverick in Canada is $27K compared to US $20K.
