So the 2024's will not come standard with the keyless entry keypad on the side of the door as they did on the 22's and 23's. It has to be added at the dealer once the truck arrives.

Does anyone know much about how much these will cost for the keypad and installation? I see where the keypads can be bought off various places online for under $100 but don't see anything about installation or costs associated.

They just stick on and are battery powered. No need to pay for install. The ones on 22s and 23s are hardwired.

They are no longer the ones where one can program themselves in their driveway by cycling the key and using both key fobs. They either need to be programmed by a dealer or some shop that has the tool to do so. It is NOT done through Forscan.

Most people will need to pay for that installation unless they have a friend who has that tool.

Under normal conditions the battery will last around 10 years depending on use. I know because I had one on my last Ranger. I was not successful in attempting to replace the battery in the unit. I did something to the keypad which caused the battery to die after a few days. I scoured the internet but could never find any NOS keypads, just the new type which require dealer programming which could not be done on an 05 Ranger.
