Ford agreed to replace all 4 of my wheels on my XL that are rusting. Just waitng for them to come in.
Do you have photos of the issue area? I will be checking mine after hearing this.

Does anyone see any rust in those photographs? I don't.

Wow, my XL may have the same.
I just never got down on my hands and knees real close and took high resolution zoomed in photographs of the seams.
Jeez.

I have a XLT but a set of XL rims for my winter tires. Every steel rim I've ever seen and I've owned cars since the 1960s rust like that here in the N East. I spray that area with the Waxoyl transparant product and have no rust after 2 winters. I also spray the back of the rims with Waxoyl black hard wax. Do it in the summer and let the rims sit out in the hot sun and the sealant will penertate into the gap, good luck.

and BTW I have no affiliation with Waxoyl other than I have my vehicles treated with it when I get one. It works!

MAXMAV - DO YOU TAKE THE WHEELS OFF AND LAY THEM FLAT WHEN YOU APPLY THE WAXOYL?

My wife and I lived in Upstate NY for about 15 years. Saw the same with Steel Wheels there as well.. Really had to stay on top of the maintenace of them. It's awesome when buying new and you can do that right at the outset before they are exposed to anything.

It's like when you buy a new lawn mover.... the first thing you want to do before using it is to turn it over and spray a couple of coats of preventative mower deck treatment.. and repeat that before putting it away for the winter... But for it to be really effective, you have to do it from the moment it's new.

Unless there are photos (none on his other thread either) or other proof, I'd call this thread trolling
OP had a prior thread about the rusting steel wheels, and another about a poorly installed drop in bedliner.

This thread is a followup thread... Lancaster is near Buffalo... massive amount of salt used on those highways for their long winter... I'm shocked Ford didn't rate that as normal wear/tear item seeing the operating conditions.

When you get the new replacements... do exactly what MaxMav has been doing to extend their life.

Beauty of me having lived at higher elevation in the Sonoran Desert of both Mexico and Arizona for the last 18 1/2 years.... What is this thing you call rust?
