This is just an FYI to other rollover customers waiting for their 2024 to come in.

My 2024 XLT Hybrid has "shipped." While waiting for delivery, I decided to call Ford Customer Service and see if they would confirm that I am eligible for the rollover Private Offer. They confirmed my ID and then gave me a Certificate number and an amount ($3400). I requested the info by email and they sent it, but the email does not include the amount.

The other weird thing about the email, is that the Certificate Number that they gave me over the phone is listed in the "expiration date." This offer has no expiration date and the 6-digit code is not a date in any format. Here is the whole text of the email:

Dear Mr._____

Thank you for contacting Ford Motor Company. About your private incentives on file and Thank you for being apart of our ford family. All of our unique direct offers, like the 23MY to 24MY Maverick Model Year Transition Private Offer, are issued based on certain market criteria and are unable to be generated upon request. Congratulations! At this time, we do see a direct offer has been issued for you.

Direct Offer Name: 23MY to 24MY Maverick Model Year Transition Private Offer

Program Number: 32168

Certificate Expiration Date: 123456

Please bring this information in to your local dealer. The dealer will be able to confirm how much the offer will save you on your new Ford Vehicle and go over all the requirements and restrictions as they are subject to change.

If you have any additional questions about our National incentives our Marketing Program Headquarters is here to help. Please visit us at www.ford.com or give us a call at 1-800-392-3673. We are available Monday–Friday from 8:00a.m. – 8:00p.m EST. When you call, we can also send you a new vehicle brochure or schedule a demonstration drive at a time and dealership of your choice.

Sincerely,

That looks like a glitch.

You don't actually need to bring anything to your dealer. They look up the certificates/private offer by your address. Check with your dealership ahead of time. If they can see the private offer for you, everything is all set!

The glitch would be between Smart Vincent and whatever email program that Customer Service uses. It either auto-filled into the wrong field, or there was no field for the certificate number so the CSR typed it into the date field.

What the dealer CAN do and what they WILL do (without customer prodding) are two different things. I've read too many stories, here and on Reddit, about dealers "acting dumb" about the Private Offer, or even claiming that Ford will send a check afterwards. It's supposed to come off the Price, pre-tax.

I have my Certificate Number and the email. I am sure that it is showing in Smart Vincent, since that is where Customer Service looked it up.

The tax issue varies by state. In NY, rebates don't come off the price pre-tax. Tax is calculated on the sale price before the rebates are taken off.

There is an option to have Ford send the customer a check directly, or have Ford pay the dealer. That choice is up to the customer/dealer. In a state that doesn't tax rebates, it would obviously be more beneficial for the customer to have it payable to the dealer!

I'm in Michigan, if that helps. I believe that technically this is not a "rebate." This is meant to reduce the selling price back to the 2023 price. In my case, reversing the $1900 price increase on the XLT and the $1500 charge for the Hybrid engine that was formerly the standard $0 engine.

Well, let me tell you about my horror story regarding the private offer and my certificate under Program 32168 . This all unfolded on the one yard line when we did the paperwork for my 24 on 11/17/23. My dealer said there was a "problem" and even though my certificate showed in Smart Vincent [and the number coincided with the number FoMoCo Customer Service provided] my dealer said "they could not activate the full amount" - $2500- and could only activate $1900. WTF? I concluded the transaction but the more I thought, the angrier I got. The dealer controls the amount you get! According to Ford CS and Sarah at Long McArthur who generously returned my email inquiry even though they are not my dealer - confirmed the dealer can give you what the dealer wants! The $$$ on the certificate goes to the dealer and they have complete discretion as to how much to give. Ultimately yesterday 11/22/2023, after a lot of drama -I was able to get the dealer to cut me a check for the additional $600 I was entitled to. They pouted and blamed Ford. I even got a call from the FoMoCo sales liasion. In the process the dealer tried to put me between FoMoCo and the dealer, blaming Ford. I told them as far as sales go, I have no standing with FoMoCo and it is the dealer's problem as the money goes to them. If Ford gyps them as they tried to tell me, it is their issue. I want the full value. Now that my blood pressure is back to normal I am able to enjoy my truck. It took a lot of effort to get what I was entitled to. I have my $600 and my dealer wants me to retract the terrible reviews. I did cancel my appointment with the CBS channel 8 consumer advocate who was very interested in my experience for a TV story. But it took a lot of effort including the threat of paying my 15 year old grandson's Lacross teammates $20/hr to hold picket signs at the dealership on black Friday calling them [Insert dealer name here] Fraud Ford and handing out leaflets. Next time I go to the DMV I am going to praise them for being knowlegeable and efficient by comparison to FoMoCo.

Wow. Just, wow.

I guess all I can do is hope they give me the full value. They tried to sell me a Lariat last spring at $8K over MSRP, and last week they had a '24 XLT Hybrid listed at $4K over (which they apparently sold over the weekend). They don't seem to get many Mavs even compared to other mid-size dealers in my area. Long story why I placed my MY23 order with this dealer, but I am definitely worried that they are going to mess with me.

That's why I put in a second order on July 17, with a high-volume, highly-rated Ford dealer an hour away. I haven't heard anything about production on that one, but I will walk away if I feel like I'm getting shafted.

The worst part about it is, if I walk away they will just list it at $4K over and sell it like they did the one on their lot. That one had to be a customer order as well, so what did they do to that guy to get him to walk away??!!

That's pretty crazy. Especially to those who have waited over a year to get rollovers. Dealers need to honor the full private offer amount and pass it on to the customer. If my dealer does this with my order, you can be sure Im going to raise hell and if they refuse to do the right thing... I'll give them bad reviews, name and shame, and go out of my way to let people know to stay away from them.

When picking up my 2023, that was eligible for the rollover from 2022 my salesman already had the paperwork at hand with the rollover discount already done. Just asked if I qualified for anything more I brought up military. Signed into ID shop there was link that's it another $500.00

Cannot understand how anyone is having problems with their dealer. It's not optional.

I don't know anything about Michigan tax laws... so I can't help there.

But I am 100% certain that it is a rebate just like any other. It will be treated just like any other rebate is in Michigan.

RE: Can't understand why anyone is having problems with their dealer...." - Giving the full value or any value for the private offer price protection certificate IS AT THE DEALER'S DISCRETION. That is the point of my post. The $$$ from the offer goes to the dealer not the customer and the dealer can give all, part or none. As I wrote, I verified this with both Ford Customer Service and an honest dealer, Long McArthur Ford in KS. My dealer tried to screw me and I spent a lot of energy getting my additional $600 back.

If your dealer gave you the military discount, good for you; Ford says "cannot be combined with private offers"

Yes they can? You can't stack Military with other Ford offers like Farm Bureau or College Student, but you absolutely can use a private offer and a Ford offer together.
