Rok Blokz hardware rusting. Did I do something wrong?

I just put these things on around Christmas. Did I do something wrong? I can’t imagine they would ever include hardware that’s exposed to these conditions that would rust or corrode. Help

Looks like they used cheap bolts... That's sucky!
I'd request stainless steel fasteners from them (unless that was an option on the original order, in that case it's on you....)

Hmmmmm.... They say they ship with stainless steel hardware, but decent 304 shouldn't do that so quickly.

Typical as hell,,cheap, cheap, cheap. Everything aftermarket is Chinese trash now a days. Stainless hardware may cost .20 or .30 cents more for God sakes,, you want this company to go BROKE???

Yes they have a pretty good selection of SS nuts and bolts.

I have these mud flaps waiting to install when my truck finally gets here. They indicate the hardware is stainless but based on this post, perhaps not. Should I put some kind of protectant on mine before installing? Any recommendations?

FYI- Just because they're stainless doesn't mean they won't rust when exposed to road salts.
If they haven't undergone some sort of passivation to "remove" any iron on the outer surface of the fastener, you're very likely going to get rust.
I have no experience, but could aluminum fasteners work?

Same rust here after a week....returned them and went with the Ford OEM long flaps that were 1/2 the price and holding in your hands you can see they are FAR FAR more durable than the ROX crap. Plus don't like advertising for free.
