I just installed a BakFlip G2 tri-fold hard bed cover that "tips up" by the rear window once fully opened. Its very well made and gives maximum access to the bed when open. There are self-storing supports on each side once opened and tipped to hold the folded cover in place with three large self-adhesive "bumpers" in the unlikely event it makes contact with the rear window. Very neat look as it lays even with the black plastic bed trim. It also has a "gutter and drain tube" system to minimize water getting into the bed. If you can swing spending in the area of $1k, its worth it.
I’ve been looking at the backflip series, they have all the features I’m looking for but unfortunately have considerable costs. I want a low profile rigid surface for my cover that is either retractable or foldable. Sadly that seems to cost $1,000+

I got mine for just under $900 w/no shipping fees from Tonneaucovered.com. I shopped hard for the best deal and this was it.

I got the keko retractable and have no complaints other than the install could have had word details instead of basic cartoon pictures you have to crack the code. At least a YouTube video to install.

I have a factory installed bed liner and can’t see if there are any drain holes in the bed. Do you know where the drain holes are?

I had to remove the side panels for access to the drain holes located on each side toward the front by the cab. The holes have rubber plugs that are easily removed.

I then fished a wire through the hole all the way to the ground, attached the drain tube to the wire and pulled it back up through the hole in the bed. That ensured the tube was routed properly through the passageway you can see when lying under the truck.

Next I eyeballed/measured where the hole in the bed lined up with the side panel and drilled a 7/8” hole (just slightly above where the hole in the bed is so the drain tube maintains its downward path once connected to the drain hole in the bed
cover. 7/8” is the same size as the hole in the bed so it allows reuse of the rubber plug. I found the markings on the backside of the bed liner side panels are not in the right spot for where the holes need to be drilled.

Next step was to reinstall the side panels (reinstalling the 4 tie-downs + small screw near the tailgate on each side that had to be removed), fishing the drain tube through the drilled hole on each panel. To give it a finished look, make a hole in the center of the rubber plug the diameter of the drain tube and reuse the plug by installing in the hole that was drilled.

Drain tubes should maintain a downward run from where they connect to the bed cover by the cab on each side. I used the full length of the tubes provided with the bed cover and did not need to shorten them.

good luck on the install.

Thanks I really appreciate all the information. Probably should have done this prior to installing the cover. Was hoping I could see the hole from underneath and drill a pilot hole through the liner and go from there. Oh well just another project to add to my list.

I'm considering one of these retractables myself, but the prices are turning me off. What model did you get? Link?
Have a trifold on order from Amazon (they sell several)-less than $200! dont know here you get those extreme prices, and these have positive reviews

Just ordered one of these with the low profile crossbars included. Thanks for the tip and the video definitely helped me finally go with a retractable that wasn't outrageously priced. I was originally planning to try to do a hard roll up with low profile crossbars but was not seeing any thing convincing me it would go well.

Yeah I like the look of the lower profile crossbars, but I do have larger fishing kayaks that I will be using so I’m not sure they will work. Let me know how the crossbars are though. I might buy them if they are easy to take on and off because it would make more sense for luggage carriers, bikes, things like that.

I hauled a Nucanoe Frontier 12 this weekend with these TMS bars. Put the bar as far back as it would to towards the tailgate, then put one of those car rooftop kayak pads on it. Put another rooftop pad on top of the cab right above the window where I figured it was structurally the strongest. Then strapped it down, bow and stern tied down. Didn't shift at all. Bars are super easy to take on and off, I just put a tie down cleat back in place of the rack when I take the rack off and leave the T Bolt on.

Well finally got my truck back from the body shop...somebody backed into the rear bedside a week after I got it. The crossbars are OK. Standard yakima T bolts won't fit in the slot so I had to order some different ones and cut them to length. Also the bolts to mount the crossbars are exposed so someone with tools could pull them off quite easily. Functionally they haul my bikes great.

I was in the market for a tonneau cover and had a roll up aluminum one on my F150 and loved the low profile look of it, but didn't care for the operation of it. When I got the 2022 Maverick I started to look at the retractable ones. Soon realized I also wanted the t tracks built into the rails of the covers so I could put crossbars, ladder racks, etc. Most of what I found with those options started around $1600. Seemed a little steep for a short bed like on the Maverick.

Eventually I found one for under $1000 and fortunately they gave a 10% discount at the time so it ended up right around $900 plus tax. Its not as low profile as I would have liked but so far I really like it.

I will measure but I am thinking like 10-12
Same question. With the retractable cover/box installed, how many sheets of plywood will fit as shown in photo.
