You're tired of sending money to the Middle East but you're against hybrids? I like a good performance upgrade as much as the next guy and I generally pee standing up unless I'm doing a number two at the same time but if you remove the catalytic converters you're not polluting the same as everybody else you're polluting a lot more. Also personally if I was going to go there performance route I would probably be more interested in a better engine to start with. No offense to Ford but there are a lot better motors to hop up than the 2.0 EcoBoost

Am currently have parts for , 2 tesla motors , a leaf motor and about $10k of lg chem batteries for a buggy conversion on my high travel buggy and a possible 560 hp motor( tesla ldu) conversion on my 87’ full size bronco.
I think you got me confused with someone else .
I have nothing against hybrids , great for people that just want to buy a vehicle and drive it .
There is just not many hybrids you can customize , except for wraps , mud flaps, orginizers and such .
Not my thing .
I love suspension and traveling over whoops at ridiculous speeds , which requires performance modifications.
Im not into driving on developed oil impregnated rock , slathered upon our earth, though i have to deal with that and the hypocrytical enviro-nazi’s every day in socal that insist paved roads are more enviro friendly than the dirt roads we race on!

if that is an emissions device which form the pics on his last thread looked to be like some catalyst material (we have a new 25 maverick to test at work I’ll have to ask the Ford Rep) it breaks the clear air act. With the Chevron case it gets a little muddy but we will see how that plays out in application.

My mom did give me such advice as you mention above but I was also taught a crap job is a crap job (weld job)

You are correct , but it is also a act , which doesnt put it as a felony or misdemeanor, its a federal fine up to 4k $ and a fix it ticket to an individual , but has never been enforced federally.
Locally in california they would also wright tickets at the street hang outs , they would come a d block off the cruise night parking lots in san diego and bring a carb official and a dot trained highway patrol and write no cat and no pcv valve tickets on open air cleaner 70 chevelle’s and mustangs and illegal nitrous kits on 32’ fords and such .
Each ticket averaging $1500 starting price for moddified emissions , even on the 70’ cars.
The reason they brought a carb rep. And a dot trained highway patrol was , these are the only people trained to testify about what is legal or not .
Your average sheriff or policeman cannot testify without the dot training.
Same as what is a legal beadlock wheel and one that isn't.
Trust me I've gone round and round with my street legal high travel buggy .
Ive read most ca. vehicle code for off road stuff, aftermarket stuff,kit car stuff .
Its gotten to the point i carry laminated printouts of the common cvc’s cops pull me over for .

or just drive the classic mustang or my brothers 428 cobra jet Torino talladega around and produce way more smog than either finely tuned injected turbo 4 cylinders.

Simple, simple. Did I say it was a tragedy? Like most Americans these days you think in extremes. I was referring, maybe wrong guy ( I think bwicka perhaps ?) who removed the cat. He was making the same stupid red herring argument you always make...lol (15 yrs old?) which it runs along the lines of: well if somebody drives a hybrid and gets 50 MPG they're pure because they're still burning gas so there's no difference between them and somebody who dumps raw nuclear waste into the towns drinking supply reservoir..... It's either an argument made by people who are being purposely disingenuous or they just don't know any better.
Also you keep making arguments from 10 years ago about batteries and completely ignoring the fact that they're becoming more and more recyclable and gasoline is 0% recyclable. I don't argue with you and some of the other simple folk out here because I'm a fanatic about it but because I hate simple arguments.
You seem to acknowledge improvements in ice tech but in your mind batteries are stuck in 1980 forever and cannot be improved? Do your cordless tools run in 2- stroke mix, gas, or diesel?

They did but after the chevron case it’s clear that the can not give blanket authority to an agency like the epa.
So although not a scholar I certainly follow what happens.

The government of the United States governs the United States and sets the rules and laws for the United States. We don't do that for other countries. I don't want there to be slaves and other countries but we don't run other countries and you are misguided because the vast majority of that mining happens in Africa for the chinese.. As for EVS who cares what you're okay with. I'm not saying they're going to save everybody you're like a Luddite. Again 100 years ago you would have been against light bulbs and electricity. You're letting the perfect be the enemy of the good on purpose. Like EVS are not any better than a gas car environmentally until all the electricity is generated from a butterfly flapping its wings.... EVs create more pollution when being manufactured but over the life of the vehicle they are better for the environment. What mileage that is that is depending on things like how is your electricity generated? How big is the battery?
The point isn't that they're perfect and I'm not even an owner of one, the point is people smarter than you and I who specialize in things like battery chemistry can continue to make them better. Again I reference the cordless tools because I'm old enough to remember when the battery powered cordless drills, impact drivers and stuff came out and the batteries were three times as large and heavy with 1/3 the power and lasting time and that's not that long ago. Technology doesn't stand still.

Whoever said I was a humanitarian? I think the number of people we have now is basically a disease. Maybe I just want me and my family and people I care about to have a decent way of life where I can go fishing without oil slicks floating by..... Ever see any other planet in our solar system other than earth?
As for the batteries US companies had a lot of mineral rights in Africa that they sold to china. As usual CEOs are just worried about the next 1/4.. More totalitarian countries like the Chinese can nationally think in long-term strategic ways like locking up battery supply.

That second article will shows what I meant by the world's more complicated today. Not just the United States but the Western world is competing with China in this field. Sticking to constitutional ideas that were very relevant regarding the states back in the late 18th century it's not likely to mount a sufficient challenge.
We don't stop using gas because the Middle East has human rights violations the problem, as usual, is human behavior not the technologies. You're using that as an excuse to attack a tech you don't like.
